for 2016 Outback with 2.5L...On my last filter change, I switched over from "blue" OEM filters to a ST MP-7317 filter specifically to check if the startup noise improved with a silicone ADBV...it did. So, since the MP-line of filters is gone (at least at my Walmart) I bought one of the new Fram Endurance filters to try.. so now hearing about the "flashlight" test that the Fram filters fail, I am wondering what "good" filters that fit the Subaru have a silicone ADBV? (and no, not trying to re-start the bypass pressure debate, I'll use Subaru-specific or 7317 types). I'm moving to the camp that says for this car the ADBV is important. Thanks!

All Premium Guard Extended Life variants do. Some WIX do.

Also of note the CQP has the correct bypass psi for Subaru. Which makes me believe all PGI filters do. Also another indication is they only list Subaru as the application.

I've seen this on RockAuto and have been tempted a few times to throw one in an order and try it out. Do you have any experience with the Hengst ones?
I have one on the car now and another waiting for next oil change. Made in PRC but C&Ps are good and they are a brand I trust.
Whip City Wrencher did a burn test on Tokyo Roki (black) Made in Japan OEM with black adbv and it burned as silicone (rare). That said, it was one specific application, 152708AA1710. I'm going to speculate that other Tokyo Roki made Suby OEM, the same. Looking aftermarket 7317 equivalent, Carquest Premium 84356 (silicone adbv) a good value and hard beat for individual purchase. Between OEM and CQ, I'd pick the latter.

Thanks everyone, my son recently bought some STP XL filters (7317 size) for his two Hondas..they definitely have a silicone ADBV, and looking at the Autozone website they also have a Subaru specific application..so maybe I'll grab one of those and put it on after the Endurance one i have sitting in the garage..who knows in a year which brand will be the favorite and where it comes from
