Manifolds have come A LOOOOONG way since then. Edelbrock's Performer RPM air gap will run circles around that manifold. I'm sure even the Performer would.

Since your oil is cool the 10-30 Rotella T would be best in my opinion. When you start pulling the trailer then the 15-40 Rotella T may be better.

Dave J: I agree on the cold air ducts. I have the materials gathered, but need to build it yet. Cooling is the inherent problem on these monsters, and I have worked hard to re-engineer the engines cooling capacity.

TanSedan, JohnBrowning: Thanks for the reply! Great to hear from the old Mopar guys. Tons of good info in your posts.

I've been on this site for a few years now, and I must say, this site is GREAT! None better on the net for pure data, and honest advice.

99, an "air-gap" manifold would be a little foolish . . . chrysler big block intakes are already separate from the coolant, and, geeeeeee, have had an "air gap" since 1959 or so.

The Performer intake is not the way to go unless a novice buyer gets the Chev small-block spec cam Edelbrock offers.

And, in a heavy vehicle, the Performer is a step backwards for performance in B/RB Chrysler. In a heavy vehicle, efficency is the key, with high BSFC numbers. Something the Dual Port 360 provided in spades. But the WEIAND is still the best aftermarket choice when a suitable factory piece isn't wanted. Last I looked, one couldn't fit a spreadbore carb on that, so the factory pieces (with some TLC) are likely the best choice.
