I was just thinking about this. We saw Romulus. I didn't like it at all. Next day watched the original.

the first Alien is in my top 10 favorite movies. it's a monument of cinema. one of the greatest movie of all time. the first 2 movies is where it's at.

In context of time and technology at that time, Alien was far better. It was cutting edge and scary for the time it was produced.

But I still chuckle at Bill Paxton being the whiny bi*** in Aliens......"We're all gonna die, man!!"

I think I like Alien more due to being darker and the suspension of disbelief was really low. They let the scenes take their time without thinking "We gotta trim time and make it more fast paced." I put Aliens #2 due to the Marine crew being too Hollywood. They could have made them into total bad*****, still kept a portion of B. Paxton's humor, and been more believable.

Alien was way scarier for me but Aliens gets props for cultural influence and phrases that entered the common lexicon like "Phased Plasma Rifle in a 40 watt range" and "I say we take off and nuke the entire site from orbit. It's the only way to be sure."

You’re mixing movies.

The Terminator asked for a “Phased plasma rifle in a 40 watt range” to which the proprietor said, “Hey, just what you see, Pal.”

I want whatever handheld welder the bad*** Mexican chick was using to close up the door in Aliens!!!!!

It's like an EDC ReadyWelder capable of impressive run time and travel speed! It was totally real, RigHt?!?!

I like the 2nd "Aliens" better. It had a better story line and more action, but you kind of new what to expect. "Alien" was really the first of its kind (most notably Sigourney Weaver as the 1st female leading action role), and you really had no context of Xenomorphs.

I think they both portrayed a more realistic version of "future space travel and inhabitance" in comparison to other movies like 2001 ASO.

My vote is for "aliens'' other than the Weaver cameo in the first one. @Passport1

It is funny how hollywood is prophetic sometimes.

It was not until a laser was placed on a gun in the original terminator movie, that the concept was adopted by special service forces around the world. The visible laser gave way to red dot sights of today, and the rest is history.

Not so much a laser gun, but the idea is legit.
