Which movie is better: Alien vs Aliens

In context of time and technology at that time, Alien was far better. It was cutting edge and scary for the time it was produced.

But I still chuckle at Bill Paxton being the whiny bi*** in Aliens......"We're all gonna die, man!!"
Game over, game over man! Hilarious.

You’re mixing movies.

The Terminator asked for a “Phased plasma rifle in a 40 watt range” to which the proprietor said, “Hey, just what you see, Pal.”
You beat me to it.

I ended up picking up an AMT hardballer (same long slide 45) for nostalgia, and thats all it was worth.
Biggest pile Ive ever owned.

Two of my favorite movies. Alien, the original gets my vote.

Apropos, as I've been watching the whole series over the last few nights. Definitely the 1st one for me, though the 2nd one was good, no doubt. Watched Alien vs Predator last night, not a bad movie either.

The original Alien, of that there can be no question.
Wonderful buildup of suspense and you always had the idea that the crew could win, until they were wiped out, except for one.
Great late scene with S. Weaver and her getting into a suit and depressurizing the escape module.
Saw this with an old girlfriend when it came out and have watched it several times since.

I thought the 2nd film was much better than the first. Pure terror and fast paced action and incredible, imho.

I enjoy Aliens as much as Alien.

I feel the same way about Terminator and Toy Story. The sequels are pretty dang good compared to the prequels.

I wish I could easily source the various titles mentioned so I could view them comparatively.

In chronological order

Prometheus (2012), set in 2089
Alien: Covenant (2017), set in 2104
Alien (1979), set in 2122
Alien: Romulus (2024), set in 2142
Aliens (1986), set in 2179
Alien 3 (1992), set in 2179
Alien: Resurrection (1997), set in 2381

My opinions on those movies:

Prometheus is okay as a standalone movie but messy with the lore and doesn't really fit with the original. This would be my Number 3. It has creative ideas but the movie is hindered by characters that make mostly retarded choices. It's tolerable as a standalone movie.

Alien:: Covenant is a mess. Ridley must have lost his mind around the time he made this movie. While answering some of the questions raised in Prometheus the movie raises new questions it never answers and the movie ends on a cliffhanger. The movie flopped and we never got a sequel or resolution. I suppose this would be my Number 5 but I have no inclination to watch that again.

Alien is a fantastic creepy horror movie but once the monster is out of the bag it's been done and can never be repeated successfully. That's why Big Cjap is fully revealed only near the very end. If you can see the monster your mind can deal with it. Only an unseen horror is truyly horrifying. My number 1.

Aliens is a great action movie with body horror. It falls flat in terms of more than some suspense. My Number 2.

Romulus is a mashup of what's considered the best parts of the whole franchise. It sort of succeeds, making it sort of a success if you like shiny things. It falls completely flat in the second half of the movie that deteriorates into dumb fecal matter and nothing but fan service. The self-referential quoting is cringeworthy. The acting is mostly blah as are the characters. I was rooting for the xenomorphs. The visuals are mostly good with some really creative F/X. This would be my Number 4 but that's not saying much.

Alien 3 is an okay stand-alone movie but it just doesn't fit in the series. Some of the acting is pretty good. I'll rate that Number 3 alongside Prometheus.

Alien Resurrection is hot garbage. You could not get me to watch that ever again.

In my opinion all the Alien/Predator crossovers are terrible. If they make an Alien/Predator/Blade Runner crossover - I'm sure they think that's a brilliant idea because all three franchises are set in the same universe, I'll scream. Nobody hears you scream in your home theater.

I saw Aliens before I saw Alien. I was 10 when I saw Aliens and it was great fun, suspenseful and action-laden.. I saw Alien a few years later. Alien would have been psychologically terrifying nightmare stuff when I was 10. The claustrophobic setting and the seeming inevitability of falling prey even without the body horror would have made for an outstanding experience. :ROFLMAO:

from the Wikipedia:

Critical reassessment since then has resulted in Alien being widely considered one of the greatest and most influential science fiction and horror film of all time. In 2002, Alien was deemed "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant" by the Library of Congress and was selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry.
