With modern multiplexes, there seem to be a wide range of screen sizes. I started going to movies as a kid when 4 screens was typical of a multiplex and they tended to be fairly big rooms with big screens. Then many started subdividing or new ones built with small auditoriums that might hold 40. I also remember single screen theaters, like the Coronet in San Francisco. It seated 1350 and had a balcony.

But all the ones built and rebuilt in the last 30 years seem to be multiplexes with at least 10 screens in order to show a wide variety and to space the times for new releases. One around here also typically has one or two Hindi movies. But the screens tend to be small. I’m waiting for a movie now and picked a later time because the seating map indicated a bigger room.
