I drive an '06 Scion tC if anyone has this car and uses one of these filters. Have all 3 available to me OTC. Unless the RP sale ends and they take the filters off the shelf. M1 & RP don't state any "micron size" on box. K&N states 10-20. Heard very highly of K&N in terms of oil filters. M1 & K&N = $13. RP = $15

Thanks for feedback!

I have the same engine, but all I've run are WIX/Napa, Purolator and the stp/supertechs thus far. The PureOne and Napa Golds are great filters at half the price, but I'm not sure if you'd stoop to that level.

After seeing a 16k mi UOA on an engine like mine Im going to give Donaldson filters a try. P169071. I can get them for the same price as an M1 from a place I found online.

I bought a case of them last year. They are exceptional.

Havent heard of Donaldson. I did see a PureOne filter w/ Micronic filtration advertised on the box. Didn't say the what level.

I was just going over your thread, with the cutaway too. Very nice!

ETA: I just took apart a P1 and wasnt impressed. It was pretty flimsy compared to a $5 Thai Denso filter I also cut open.

They make transport filters.

They were the pioneers in synthetic glass filter media as well as the honeycomb style air filters.

They are a popular OEM for air filters and housings as well.

Donaldson does make a good filter!
I've been running M1 or K&N on my small yota motor. supposedly they are the same exact filter - except for the nut on the end. I've seen partical count UOA's on M1 filters vs. EAO's and the M1 did measureably better on small particals.

I started using the M1 fillter when they first came out in the 90s, and have used a basket load of them of them over the years always with good results.

Do you have an AZ or AA that has M1 filter + 5 qts oil for $30? Thats a deal I couldnt pass up, even if its just to stock up for the zombie apocalypse.

Donaldson does sound really goood. Read up on their website a bit.

I got buy 4qts & filter of RP get 5th qt free. So it was $53 instead of $61 Pepboys.
Advance Auto had the M1 and K&N filters. Didn't check to see if they had DIY oil change deals tho. I'll have to next time I'm there.

Quite a bit of difference in those 2 filters. The Fram Extended Guard is not bad, but everything else...

I beginning to hear good rumblings about the RP filter - hope its better than their oil! No need to spend $$ for a thicker can and a nut on the k&n. I would prefer the toyota nippon denso japan p/n 90915-10004 in this app. it as a depth "foamed" media filter and its what came on new import toyotas. I Never use the YZZf2, had problems with EVERY ONE giving low oil pressure. The purolator/bosch would be a good second choice.
Oil wise, I've found castol syntec works well in my yaris - but i have to substitute a pint of 10w40 syntec in with the 3+qt of 5w30 syntec to get the VVTi to work right.

Thought about keeping the OEM, it is made for retaining oil for cold starts very well in the car. Thanks for all the feedback guys

Are you going to run a long OCI?

I like and use M1 filters but they are expensive.

I can get similar performance from a Purolator Pure One/Bosch Premium at half the price.

Not in the same league IMO.

RP, Donaldson, and Amsoil EAO are in a class of their own.
