Really need a "high end" filter with synthetic?

I tend to something similar but for different reasons.

My winter OCI is usally 4.5 months and less than 1/2 the mileage of my summer cycles. Of course for winter I'll run either an OEM or Mobil 1 filter, usually the cheaper. Amsoil EAO for the summer cycle.
