Thats a good motor. Pretty easy on oil also. Idk if this Ecoturd would last on Motorcraft Synblend.I had the Triton 5.4 in the F150.
We have the full lineup of Castrol GTX in the US, but I took the context of that post as meaning a move away from full syn.In Canada the Castrol GTX can be full syn, a blend, or conventional depending on weight and variant. The full syn 5W-30 goes on sale for really cheap periodically. I think I've seen it as low as $30 per jug.
Yeah I kinda got that too after the fact.We have the full lineup of Castrol GTX in the US, but I took the context of that post as meaning a move away from full syn.
All good, but yeah, exactly.Yeah I kinda got that too after the fact.
My bad.
I see no reason in that move either.
That and the fact that Mobil 1 0W-40 routinely goes on sale here for about the same as Castrol GTX Full Synthetic makes it a no-brainer...
I.need that!!!
Yeah. That seems to be the new BITOG Baby.Highly recommend Mobil 1 0W-30 ESP.
The Castrol 5w-30 EP would be a fine choice for your car, also Valvoline Restore and Protect also,as it can clean up the inside of the engine, myself had a older Saturn car and ran Royal Purple 5w-30 in it, changed the valve cover gasket at 114k and was very impressed how clean it was along with little to no wear on the valve cams on top, no oil burning or issues with Royal Purple, would consider this oil too.Hey everyone. Just looking for a good oil for a 2017 Ford Fiesta ST. It's a TGDi, 29k mi and out of warranty. No specialty Oils that I would have to order please.
I've been doing some reading, and these are the 3 choices that I was thinking (and that are at my local Walmart). As of now I've been using Castrol EDGE Extended Performance 5w30 and sometimes the Motorcraft synthetic 5w30. The car does sit a lot in a garage and is only really driven 1 or twice every few months. I never go longer than 3k miles ir 6 months on an oil change Thanks!!
-Mobil 1 ESP 0w30 or 5w30
-Castrol EDGE Euro K 5w30
-stay with Motorcraft 5w30 Full synthetic
Are you FenderBass1994? Lol.What oil did you end up going with? I just picked up Mobil 1 ESP 0w30 for my next oil change on my stage 2 tuned Fiesta ST. Last few oil changes I’ve used Castrol edge 5w30 and wanted to try the Euro K Castrol but I ultimately decided on the Mobil 1.
Yup that’s me! I just got the standard size filter. Are you FenderBass1994? Lol.
If so, i saw your post on Reddit. I chose the ESP 0w30 and the Microgard select.
Did you use the standard size filter or the bigger one like the FL400?
I got the standard size filter also. Where is yours made? Mine says Malaysia.Yup that’s me! I just got the standard size filter.
The Castrole 5w-30 EP just seemed a little thin to me. Night and day difference between your engine and the little turbo GDI Ecobeast OP has. You can't extrapolate from your experience with that engine to OP's.I had a 2005 Ford F150 4x4 Lariat crew cab that had extensive oil change records since it was brand new. I bought it with 185,000 miles and sold it at 225,000. That engine had the Motor Craft 0-20 synthetic blend since it was brand new. That truck ran great and didn't use any oil at all. That,s why I thought since you had used the Ford oil (different weight) it would continue to work well for you. I believe if you change it on a regular basis the engine will last longer than the vehicle. The previous owner put lots of miles on that Ford and he still changed it at around 3,000 miles. He must have had a lot of money because they were all dealer oil changes. The truck actually looked like it had very low miles on it because it was immaculate.
Highly recommend Mobil 1 0W-30 ESP.

The 0w labeling in this case is mostly irrelevant. AFAIK the Mobil 1 ESP 0w30 Kv40 is on par with other engine oils listed as 5w. The part that makes the 0w so good is the fact that it uses PAO/Ester base and has a more robust additive pack than the 5w ESP.Chiming in a bit late since I have the same car. I'm perfectly happy with Pennzoil Ultra Platinum High Mileage but I am admittedly curious since Mobil 1 ESP is the same price or cheaper - why, in laymans terms, would one use a 0w30 in a car where the recommended factory fill is 5w20 (or 5w30 depending on location), especially one as prone to heating issues as the Fiesta ST?
I assume the 30 is the key part since that's the weight at temperature and the 0 is more relevant at startup and you want that to be thinner/flow better on a turbo car, but I am curious.
