Ok, we know PQI puts out alerts on stuff. I was curious what BAD stuff you've actually SEEN IN PERSON.

Here in my area, I've seen Bullseye (lots of it)... Liberty, PittPenn and recently, CityStar ATF...

Triple XXX lube. (Is that nine X's) at a cumberland farms gas station. It says right on the bottle it's not current API somehow. $2.99/qt.

Economy USA, down the street from me at a Valero. Mentioned it to the guy and gave him the website. Also showed him the "weasel words" on the back of the bottle. "Satisfies no new car requirements, for top off only, viscosity between 5 an 30"

I see Chalet oil at a certain dollar store here. It comes as a ND30 and ND40. It says right on the bottle that it's not suitable for anything made after 1930.

It's not a bad oil if used for door hinges and maybe a compressor that takes a ND oil.

Everywhere else sells decient oil. Usually ST and Pennz.

Why does that junk even exist? Why does it sell? Shame they couldnt make economy gas and sell it for around $2.00 a gallon instead.Add a little injector cleaner and iso alcohol and be good to go.

I see Fram all the time

/troll.

The HEB by campus here has SA oil on the shelves. I keep meaning to write to the manager to tell him how despicable that is. You know ignorant students are probably buying it.

kinda troll but... put [censored] gtx 10w40 in the VTR1000F & after less than 2000 miles it was shot... thin, watery, nasty and just ugly. It was the first run past FF. Been using M1 15W50 ever since w/ good results. OCOD is [censored] but the top end extended guard phrames are ok... Even chinamart has SB oil on the shelf...

It really honks me off to see trash oils on the shelves. The ND stuff doesn't bother me as much, since it's not pretending to be 5w30 or anything.

I've seen Everclear around here too... Man, I must live in garbage oil central.

Compared to some of the stuff PQIA has uncovered, Lucas is Grade A gold super awesome stuff with a gold star for quality.

For me, i bet you i can find half of the junk PQIA finds...as most of it seems to come from NJ stores....it must be due to the proximity of NYC and Philly.

Junkiest junk that i have seen on junk oil shelves though.........Cheap transmission fluid, where it is multi vehicle but is an outdated spec, where it is like Mercon/Dexron III or something like that, it misleads to a small degree.

Jeez guys... I wasn't looking to turn this into a "Fram and Lucas stink" discussion. I was looking more to get the scope of totally off spec deceptive "Engine Oils"... basically someone bottling some mysterious substance and calling it "Quality Motor Oil"...

Before knowing better...way back when, I once bought some "Duplex" from a C-store and put it in my lawnmower. Turns out I dodged a bullet, as it was a Warren Unilube product...and was up to par for a 10w-30
