does any have a recommended additive for use with Royal Purple? like slick 50, Prolong, Z-max, etc?

The car sees lots of short trips and is a daily driver, would like to know what is a good additive to boost the performance of an already good oil...

A good synthetic has all the additives you'll need. The stuff you listed is snake oil. If you want to keep your engine clean, look at Auto RX.

I would think a little ZDDP boost wouldn't hurt. Don't know the zddp levels of RP, but there may still be some CD-2 High Performance Street Legal Oil Boost (pink bottle) at Big Lots for 1 or 2 bucks a bottle. It has around 4800 ppm zinc, phosphorus, and calcium. Should help extend OCI or get through shorter OCI on short trip vehicle, so it seems to me.

But for a short-tripper, conventional oil would be just fine. What kind of vehicle, engine, mileage?

RP is probably rich in ZDDP. It is still SL rated.

I would add nothing to a quality motor oil.

Short trip would require shorter oil change intervals regardless of oil being used.

No additive is needed with any oil.

Boost the performance of your oil by installing a bypass filter.

Ford 2.3 Liter Turbocharged (Think ford Merkur, Mustang SVO, etc.) it has about 700 miles since the total teardown and rebuild, wight not it has a castrol 10/30 in it with 400 miles on it, which will be changed soon.

since it is a turbo it gets hot, and I know a good syn oil is more resistant to breakdown after abuse...

I agree Duce, a good synthetic is a good way to go with turbocharger. Consider Redline. Tons of zddp and moly. Ester to take the heat better than PAO. Maybe can go a bit thinner too. If you run it hard you can run a longer OCI. The key is getting the oil fully up to operating temp, which it sounds like you do. I suspect you can easily go 6 month OCI with Redline, if not a year. Of course Redline says wait 3000 miles before using their synthetic.

well its just that some days the car never sees 2500 RPM in traffic. so I also need a good DD oil, I think Red Line has great results from what I read here, but for a street machine that sees LA traffic, something more traffic friendly I would think would do. I have a bunch of GC, but since I work 4 miles from home the oil would never reach full thickness in the morning so I think I may sell to someone who has a longer commute then I do...

also I was wondering if any of the friction modifying oil treatments were good, I had a guy I knew who swore by prolong after he lost his oil coming back from vegas and drove back wih no oil in pan. dont know if the prolong had anything to do with it or if he just got lucky.

I know RP seems to be good DD oil in turbo apps, and I was wondering if there isnt a way to make it better. I'm not looking for crazy long drain periods but 5k miles is acceptable, that gives me about 6 months OCI.

The no-oil is a lie. Just use regular dino, my car rarely sees 6km a day.. so i consider you just get a good oil and stick with it. All DINO'S that are under api and latest GF-4 can go for 5k without a doubt.
