I am asking this cause my work is looking for a 0w20 that meets this spec. We use Service Pro that's Dexos 1 gen 2. Owners manual on most new VW we have says if oil meets SN+ it is ok to use.

Thank You in advance folks

We also now use 6gal boxes of Service Pro 0w40 which I'll gladly VOA if enough BITOGERS Want to see

The dealers have some flavor of Castrol that meets it, other than that there are only a couple available retail and they are hard to find. VW is very specific on 502, 504, 508 and so on, I have never heard of them mentioning SN plus or the like. They will want a 508 for warranty, which the vehicles taking 508 will all still be under warranty.

Liqui Moly 20238 - Top Tec 6200 has the approval as well. $60 for 5 liter jug on amazon. Not cheap!

The VW 508 00/509 00 specification demands it. It is to help prevent misapplication.

I'm not so sure the Castrol 50800 approved oil is great for these engines.

The Castrol approved 50800 oil has a LOT of calcium, which if this dude is to be believed, (which I think he should be given his extensive knowledge on this), then LSPI may be a concern for these VAG engines.

Thoughts?

Thought 1: he may have "extensive knowledge on this" but you can bet it is nowhere near the knowledge that VW and Castrol have on it.
Thought 2: the VW 508 00 specification does not include an LSPI test so an oil does not need to be formulated to pass one.

I have been around DI/turbocharged German cars for well over a decade, owned three of them, spend every day on some forums, and I have never once heard of LSPI issues until I signed up for this forum.
