My 1st post....

I am seeking advice on which is best for my new Honda Civic.
I am open to recommendations but currently thinking of buying either Genuine Honda or Idemitsu.
Does one have more Moly?

Idemitsu is almost certainly a fine product, but where do you buy it? Honda oil probably isn't what a Honda dealer is using in the service bays. Both probably cost more than Castrol or Mobil 1. Any of the full synthetic oils will do fine, but Mobil 1 AFE is a proven performer and is relatively easy to get.

I use AMSOIL 0W-20 Sig Series in my new CRV. Change it every 6 months just because I like to get under the car, otherwise I feel like I am neglecting the thing.

Idemitsu makes Mazda 0w-20 for the car maker, and its actually got 600 ppm of moly, an unusually high amount. They were going for low wear during the warm-up phase of driving when the zinc has not had time to form a wear barrier yet (zinc needs hot surfaces). Also, Mazda (Idemitsu) 0w-20 has a very high viscosity index, better for cold climates.

Still you could pick any 0w-20 full synthetic out there and do great. Use a Fram Ultra oil filter for the most performance there.

+1

Also, IF you did not want to bother getting the high moly MGMO, the on the shelf at Wal Mart Mobil 1 0W-20 EP is one of the best 0W-20s for the coin.

IF you actually like to struggle and strive to find an oil, and then pay boutique prices for it, the excellent, top of it's class viscosity index, Eneos Sustina 0W-20 is very good, but probably not worth the effort/cost (they seem to take the attitude that they are doing YOU the favor by even selling it to you, no matter HOW hard it is to find!

).

It also has less moly (even IF it uses the newest 'trimer' moly compounds) than the MGMO, even though it may use other very effective anti-wear, anti-friction compounds in it's place.

I've been using QSUD 0W20 in my Honda and it seems fine. Only $21.97 at Wally World.

Try Royal Purple 0w20 from Walmart. Read all the great reviews on Amazon about it. BITOG is the only place RP gets bashed. Tons of reviewers claim their cars running smoother and quieter. Yes, someone here will claim it's all butt dyno...lol

If claims of "smoother and quieter" aren't from the butt dyno then I don't know where they are from.

Ear dyno?

Right, because Royal Purple is going to make even a brand new Honda Civic run smoother and quieter. Must be incredible stuff.

So even IYO Fram Ultra oil filters are garbage? Many on this forum would disagree with you.
