My neighbor just bought a new Maserati that has a Ferrarri V8 in it and invited me over to see it. My first response was "lets change the oil on this thing at 2000 miles"

So it is speced for Shell Helix Euro 5w40 Synthetic. Where can he get the oil as the nearest dealer is 125 miles away? Will Amsoil Euro 0w40 meet the same spec?

Should this be posted in the Euro section? If so please move it.

The Euro section would probably be better.

That in mind, I'd like to see AEHass chime in. He has a Ferrari 550 (or was it 575?) that called for Shell 10w60. He put in German Castrol 0w30, and he got excellent results.

Just checked and the engine is also speced for Q Horsepower Synthetic 5w40 which Autozone carries. It is approved by Ferrari.

They will have to order it for you.

According to Ferrari North America Q Horsepower 5w-40 is Shell Helix Ultra 5w-40. I would however use 0W-40 Mobil 1 if sticking with the 40 grade oils.

If you wanted to use a thick 30 grade oil then Castrol 0W-30 European Formula would be good.

With a car that expensive and that new, I'd be leary about using ANYTHING other than exactly what the manufacturer specifies or allows. IF they allowed it, I'd second the rec. for M1 TDT/D1 5W-40.
