I found it at a GM dealer in gallons. However, none of the chain parts stores such as AZ or AA seem to have it? I would like to purchase locally if possible. I understand that Castrol and Valoline make it. if not locally, what is the best on-line source for non GM branded Dexron VI? TIA

Nothing as far as i can tell. just want options. Seems hard to believe that no aftermarket suppiers seems to sell it when GM announced the product about 12-18 months ago.

I've not seen Dex VI in gallons anywhere. Only Pennzoil Dexron VI in quarts at PepBoys.

Oreilly Auto Parts (If you have one) and Napa can special order from one of their suppliers for you, but it may be an expensive proposition.

Russell: See the post under DEXRON-VI by Whitewolf. It has a link to a website showing who has DEXRON-VI licensed products. This may assist you in finding a non-GM DEXRON-VI.

Double aces, saw it, but does not say where. I might have found a source through Carquest. I will call my local store and see what they have or can get. Hominid7, I will also check Oreilly and Napa

Oreilly has the Pennzoil Dex VI, BUT it's 6.59 per quart. Ouch! Maybe cheaper than the dealer though...

Oreillys Parts number:
PENNZOIL - TRANS FLUID (ATF DEXRON VI)
Item No: DEX-VI
$6.59 Each
Mfg. defect warranty
Additional Manufacture Part No: 5069376

Advance should carry it now. We just got some in on the truck today. Now AAP looks like it will carry Castrol Transmission fluid, and we got at least a couple cases of Dexron VI in back still. If you ask the local one, they might have some in back, because the planogram hasn't been updated yet.

Thank everyone. Looks like I am going to try the Dexron VI and my next transmission filter/fluid dump. I can get it from the GM dealer, and apparently get Valvoline and others from Oreilly and Advance judging from their on-line catalogs.

BTW, I currently use Mobil 1 synthetic ATF for the past 30,000 miles.

I noticed that Valvoline claims it is full synthetic. Is this true for all Dexron VI products?

re the Valvoline claim of full synthetic--it depends on the definition of "synthetic". It is my understanding that there are currently no synthetic (i.e. all PAO) DEXRON-VI licensed fluids.
