Hi,

I have some amsoil saber 100:1, and its good stuff... but I want to try M1 MX2T in some of our stuff, as we have used TC-W3 oil for MANY years.

I went to autozone and found some... it was in an old style bottle, and all of the caps were slightly popped, and the bottles were oily. While even the motorcycle oils were in the new style rounded bottles, this stuff was old, and there was very short supply.

Where do you buy fresh MX2T oil? Is autozone the only place? What is the shelf life of 2-cycle oil, unopened or opened?

Also, are they still making more MX2T oil, or are they phasing it out because 2-cycle engines are more and more out of favor?

Thanks!

JMH

MX2T and Racing 2T are one and the same. The only differance is the name, packaging and a small amount of red dye added to racing 2t.

Site sponsor www.avlube.com sells it online.

the MX2T I got in the old bottle was red!

I went to another AZ and found the shelves stocked with valvoline products for motorcycles and 2-cycle engines! No more M1 products hanging in front!

Yep, Jhzr2 Autozone is dropping the mobil one two-cycle oil and stocking the Valvoline stuff. I've complained but to no avail, it's a good thing I have a large supply!

I just got this from the autozone rep that I contacted:

yyyyy,

We are sorry for the inconvenience you've had in locating this product, the
good news is that it is stocked in all stores. You may go into any one of
our stores and ask for:

Sku: 153233 Mobil1 2 cycle

and someone will be glad to assist you. Thanks for your patronage and
continue to shop AutoZone for all of your automotive needs.

While I cannot give you a lifespan on the oil. It is quite long. I am sure that stuff is just fine. I have about 4 gallons of the original formula stuff left. It is still just fine. I put it in metal gallon containers to keep it fresh. (the kind you would find paint thinner in) However even the stuff in the oily plastic bottles is still just fine.

Not to worry.

Yeah, I figured that since 2-cycle oil is a total loss system, I'd have to guess thats its OK. I do need to consider settling out... even though I only ever make batches in 2 cup quantities...
