I recently drove a dream car for me, Acura NSX. <3000 lbs, 270HP and 30k used. Amazing car and well ahead of its time with the reliability of old Honda.

Sure...

It's rated at 253 HP and 232 lb-ft of torque, and max torque is not reached until 5000 rpm.

Yes, I bought it in late 1999, so it is not "new" now, but I did only pay $19.6 K for it back then, it is RWD (of course, most on here will blast/berate it for being a 'stick' axle), was rated at 305 HP at the crank, but actually made MORE THAN this at the rear WHEELS.

The way I was able to option it, with NO weighty extras (which one CANNOT do nowadays, sadly enough), it only weighs in at ~3150 pounds, wet (it would be even less if I pulled out the air, passenger airbag, and stereo).

It will do mid 12 second @~115 MPH quarter miles all day long, and still pass any emissions tests, and get > 30 mpg on the highway (and up to 22/23 mpg in the city if driven like a granny).
It handles very well with the few suspension mods I made (YES, DESPITE the dreaded rear "stick axle"

), and with decent tires.

I really like this car, even though many on here fall all over themselves to dis/flame the model, AND the company which built it EVERY chance they get.

I guess that's why I've kept it for so long, and drive it every day/chance it get.

Auto manufacturers need to start using more aluminum and carbon fiber to lighten things up.

You can only squeeze just so many miles per gallon out of 5W-20 oil.

BMW i3 is almost 50% carbon fiber.

Biggest problem with CF is that it can't be recycled. Some marques have large recycling operations (BMW for ex) which goes towards their sustainability score.

High strength steel is good too.

just checkout the shenanigans they have to use to use the jaws of life on a subaru B pillar...

CF also can't be fixed, so expect insurance to reflect that.

When a CF spinnaker pole fails it explodes, when an aluminum one fails it bends and can in a pinch be spliced.

Same with with CF body parts on a car.

Zonda has figured kind of figured out a way around this, but don't expect to see that kind of CF blend in a normal car for 10-20 years. Lambo is the leader right now in cheap CF, beleive it or not. You might just see forged or whatever they call it CF parts in a Jetta in a few years thanks to them.
