Where did Amazon dig this out of?

Ordered this from Amazon for my 17 Cruze. Went from blue can to black cans awhile ago. Expected to maybe see the updated design language soon for AC DELCO stuff with the new design. I got this instead which I think is what would have come on the car from the factory - as in the specific filter that only is on from the factory.

This filter still has the orange / reddish what I assume is silicone verses the nitrile black they switched to awhile ago.

Bottom of can reads -

Is this just old stock? Seems weird, I've only seen this coming off brand new cars with this label.

1995 on label! Amazon is selling used oil filters, when I clicked on the hyperlink. I'm guessing they are returned filters that were never used. But, we are in crazy times!

1995 on label!
I saw that too, but I think its just the branding trademark. I don't even this this filter existed then.

30216 18:04 is a date code I think. Just not sure how to decode these.

Think I'm going to return this filter, if its from 2016. Not cool with a 5 year old filter - especially because I won't use it until winter / spring time.

My guess would be "30216" could mean 216th day of 2020 ... or maybe 2010 or 2000 ?? I have no idea when the UPF64R first came out. Seems like the box sticker wouldn't have ever been changes since 1995.

It's probably not Mar 2, 2016 since it would need one more digit in the date code to cover Oct - Dec.

I tried to do a return on Amazon, and they told me to keep it.

What is going on over there?

If the gasket isn't damaged/dry rotted.....I see no reason not to use it.. Maybe put some dialectric grease or sylglyde on the gasket

That’s some crazy illusion, looks like a chunk is missing
It does!

There are 6 grooves to help retain the gasket and that is right where I scratched away at it lightly. We also have some funky track lighting so the light angle is a bit weird.
