When To Use Your Parking Lights

Your mirror is adjusted too far in.

You have a huge blind spot when the mirror is adjusted so that you can see the side of your own car.

Adjust it to view farther outward, as recommended, and you’ll eliminate that glare from the truck.

More importantly, you’ll be safer when changing lanes because your side mirror will show more of your blind spot.

Like many drivers, I have my lights set to auto and they operate with no input from me. On when its dark and off when it is light. Works for me.

Are they 'smart' enough to turn on in fog or rain? Just curious...

The auto dimming mirrors in my Lucerne work fairly good in a drive-thru, it's the oncoming traffic that blinds me that I don't like.

Nope, they do not do that. Lots of drivers pay no attention to those rarely enforced rules for light in fog and rain, sort of like driving faster than the posted limit on interstates and other limited access highways - no worries for most of us.

So I think most people don't even know they have parking lights...sigh.
