They could very easily last the life of the car. But then again its that one time late on a cold winters night that one decides to let go. I change mine after about 6 years, regardless of how many miles are on the clock. Last thing I need is to get stranded, or worse my wife getting stranded. Since I do them myself the cost factor is not much. JMO
