Like others have said, you're already under there so go ahead and change it. However I feel compelled to ask, why don't you want to change your filter? Is it very difficult to get to? Do you want to save a few bucks? Are you trying to make your oil changes easier/faster?
I personally wouldn't use a filter for 16k miles, but that's just me. Plus my filters are VERY easily accessible (don't even need to raise the car), they're perfectly vertical so they don't make much of a mess, and I'm able to get PureOnes for under $3 each after rebate. So I don't think twice about changing it every time.
Let us know why you don't want to change yours and we'll be able to better address this matter
