I never doubted you. I'm just surprised they would create a HM oil thats a 20 at operating temps. Why I can't use it. I would leak and consume a synthetic 20 weight from every gasket, ring and seal of that engine. I tried. I use HM oil for its intended purpose. Oil leaks and oil consumption. Both get worse at operating temps. I want a (0w,5w)40 High Mileage oil, they going the wrong way for me and probably most that use HM oil to solve problems.
I'm gonna try it tho, maybe the combination of swellers and the 20 will work.
In the 2az-fe? I have a little over 100,000 miles using mostly 5-30 and currently 5-20 and I don't get noticeable consumption either way. I have a shorter OCI of 5000 miles, not sure if that's why. I guess in another 150,000 I'll let you know!
If your 2az-fe runs ok with the 0w20/5w20 back spec there's no need for a HM oil at all. But some day you may need a HM oil because of a leak or oil consumption. And thats when a 30 or 40 weight makes a big difference. All I was talking about.
Only reason I use HM oil is for its intended purpose. IMO this oil was made for sales. The "use over 75k" crowd that buys into the marketing and does everything by the book, afraid to change weights. But I plan to find out.
