I just bought a Toyota pickup from my dad. He was not sure when the last time the oil was changed. Has a receipt from 2010, but it had a Fram on it and I don't think they used it at the shop with the receipt, so it's probably been changed since. It has sat a lot. It also runs way too rich, and the oil was LOADED with fuel.

The Fram Tough Guard I pulled off of it had a light, flat gray paint--not the dark metallic gray they use now. Since this is BITOG, I thought someone might know when that paint was used. Any idea?

Maybe a date code printed on the filter will tell you when it was made. Then google the code for the date.

Can you cut it open?

I know the older TG's had a tea strainer looking screen in it. Not sure on the years they were made though.

Only saw 1 at Walmart and the box looked like it had been around a while.

Need date code on side of the can to know for sure.

I remember that. Did they stop using the little strainer thingy?

Yikes... so it could have been pretty old. I tried to find it, but we have a gigantic trash can and I didn't find it. I'd practically have to climb in the thing.

I am going to do the other fluids, and I'm admittedly a little concerned what that's going to be like!
