not always an "upgrade". some prefer sm formulations. more potent. besides, your comment earlier - if you can get the stuff for less than 50% of normal cost, before or after mir, i see no problem with it. i stocked up on ANCO wiper blades even tho we do t need em, they are essentially free after MIR. i wont see that again soon.

About 140 quarts: Due to store sales(Pep Boys,O'reillys,Menards,etc. etc.)From 10w30,5w30,
0w-20.Last time was the Valvoline next gen oils that I bought almost free after rebate.

I've got about 19 quarts of Pennzoil Platinum 5-30 (got for 3.99/qt), 8 quarts of Napa synthetic 5-30(got for 2.99/qt), and a few quarts of various Mobil Super grades around. When Napa had a good sale on it's synthetic a few years back I had 36 quarts of 5-30 and 36 quarts of 10-30.

As soon as the sun comes up I'm going out to the garage to evaluate the stash and oil filter situation. Got to change oil on 3 cars today and I'm going to be nearly wiped out of Nextgen and Goil. I need some more FAR oil.

Motor oil is a combustable liquid, which means that it has a flash point >100F.
A look at a few VOAs/used oil analysis reveals a flash point way above that temperature.
Therefore, a motor oil stash isn't much of a fire hazard.
The gas cans most of us keep in the garage for our OPEs are another matter.

I went from about 30 quarts 2 years ago to a single quart in 2013 for top off only. I haven't seen a great sale for years and really don't see a reason to stock up if I can buy it in a few months for the same price.

1 Gallon Rotella T6 5W-40.. Will probably use in about 3000 miles
5 quart jug Maxlife Nextgen, $17.27 from Walmart
... and that's about it.

Soon to be a blend of Royal Purple 0W-20 and Shell Rotella T6 5W-40, as my blend after that Maxlife Nextgen... with some Redline thrown in, for good measure. (1qt 0W-20, 1qt 0W-30, 2 quarts RP 0W-20, 2 quarts T6 5W-40.)

Are you guys oil merchants?

Right now I'm keeping a 1 liter bottle (like 1 quart) in the trunk as my car consumes oil on high speeds.

My biggest inventory of oil was like 12 bottles of those for the next 2 change. Bought them from a dealer for much a cheaper price. Happened only once in my life.

O yeah, I'm keeping half a quart of gearbox (steering wheel) oil and like 1/8 quart of break oil to clean.

If I took pictures and posted them, you would think it was made up. Just the Amsoil in my back room alone is between $15,000 and $20,000 worth. Currently buying all the Bosch+4 Iridiums 4508 and Distance+ 3500 size I can get, which is only from Wal-Mart. Yesterday I guess I did get two 5 Quart Jugs of Mobil 1 HIGH Mileage 10w30.

I Tell You, Its a bad Disorder. "One" of my Worst. Started Summer of 2001. It is genetic. "Other" bad disorders go right along with it. Can be a very Selfish Disorder, But keeps me going. Good HIGH Quality work at work is rewarded with HIGH Quality Auto Xtras.

I had it down to about 50-60 quarts (mostly Kmart clearance gallon jugs and FAR Nextgen) but the current AAP BOGO deal on Edge was too much and another 18 quarts magically appeared.

It wasn't too bad when I was doing OCI's in 4 vehicles but that is suddenly dropping off so I need to cool it. One of my son's is due to buy his first car soon though so that'll help move things along.
