This is in the back of a Corolla iM I just bought. Made mostly of aluminum and pretty heavy, or may be bolted down. Might have to take it apart to remove. Any ideas?

It looks like it was rigged out for camping and with a slide out bed or table. But it looks like a commercailly made rig so you should be able to find out who made it. It probably costs someone a pretty good penny and it might have good resell value if you can find out what it's for and advertise it in that market.

I would take it or your pictures to a Yota dealer and ask around and see if they know what it's for. Or try a Yota forum.

Definitely just going to be a bunch of SWAGs here.

No doubt that was custom made for a very specific purpose.

I'm going to guess it was outfitted to store equipment for some specific profession. Damage to the door and jamb in the third photo suggest a lot of moving materials in and out.

Also--Is a Corolla IM basically a Matrix? Those pictures sure do remind me of my 2010 Vibe.

yes. it's the Corolla wagon, just like the Matrix before it.
it's really a Toyota Auris - first brought to the states as a Scion iM, then when they did away with the Scion brand, renamed it to Corolla iM.

My one buddy who dearly, dearly loves his '03 Vibe, was looking for years for another vehicle, would only consider Toyotas (b/c of the vibe) , I kept suggesting iM's to him, but he preferred the looks of the C-HR. ...He ended up buying a 2012 Mazda 3 from his mom....

the 1st 2 pic look like the 'holder/transporter' could B loaded ona table or floor and "forked into" (see the 'feet underneath it) the back.
Cant C much of the 3rd pic (other 'holder/container'). May B it was placed in 1st (also from back, not side?) also w/'forks' under?
I dont C much 'scoring' in the alu (from draging something in/out of it's 'holder' or giggling over rd travel.) Does this mean non metal or light weight (I 1st thought "food products").
"delivery" of 'bread products'? (tortillas in back, buns in frnt?)

The rearward set of tines can be raised/lowered based on the slides on the side supports. Man. I can’t figure it out. notice the spare tire mount on the front? This meant business… that is not cheap material.
