What's the first thing you noticed about the way your engine performed after switching from conventional oil to synthetic ?

Did you have ...

- A whisper quiet engine ?
- Smoother operation ?
- Engine interior parts getting super clean ?
- Cooler oil temperatures ?
- Quicker engine revs with faster vehicle acceleration ?
- Increased fuel economy ?

Been using synthetic since 1989. The very first thing I noticed was how EXPENSIVE it was. Conventional oils were $.99 and the Mobil 1 I was using was $3.99...

The second thing I noticed was that my engine seemed to run smoother at or near redline 7000 RPM.

I don't think the differences between conventional and synthetic are anything you can see on the outside of the engine, or hear, or smell, or sense in any way. In fact, the only reason in my mind to use a synthetic is to minimize ring deposits and get longer oil change intervals to save time.

Why ? ............ Why do you love it ?

Your idle is usually more constant. I began synthetic on a 2012 Hyundai at 10k,before was QS syn-blend. It seemed a bit more peppier as well as took longer to reach oper. temp also. Acceleration was an improvement as well as knowing my emissions would be less. Some noted in 90's that Mobil1 kept pcv valves cleaner which said to me that they burn less and leave everything cleaner inside. I like to drive and operate as a self employed courier so synthetic gives me more mpg, power, and is just a better alternative for the miles I drive. Its also good bc I dont have to worry as much with extreme weather here in KS as we get 100+ and - 30 all in the same bout. On a side note, I think syn will help coolant last longer as it wont get as hot bc syn will help better with cooling internal parts. Go syn and sleep with ease.

It was on a 99 Jeep with the 4.0. Ran slightly cooler and went from 19 to 20 mpg. Tested the mpg to verify, with same fuel load and same drive with cruise control on and no traffic.

I have never noticed any quieter of an engine. ATMOF, my engines became more audible and less smooth even at WOT/RedLine. And I have never noticed any better fuel economy...EVER!

When I started using Mobil 1 in the 70's I noticed slightly lower oil pressure on cold morning starts, and the oil pressure coming up faster.

Now with conventional oils actually rivaling todays synthetics in terms of cleaning ability(due to their additives) and longevity(due to better processing) as well as many other factors, I believe there is less to notice between the two oils.

I do notice the difference between brands/grades and maybe even specific engines but, it's all in the Butt dyno

from some test done and shown online ,it look like penzoil ultra with pureplus is about 10% more resistant to load then its closest competitor mobil .so is it a better oil ?short test seems to say yes,on the normal oil change interval?i don't know if any know or have made these same test to the oil after say 3000 mile.

Been running synthetic oil since 99 when I had my 97 Honda Civic. I switched the Toyota at 9K miles so really I have no comparison. The CRV we bought used, noise wise no change but running 9-10K intervals makes me feel good.

The only thing I ever noticed was easier starts. Maybe the engine got a little quieter over time. A friend with a SBC road racing Camaro had an oil system failure that synthetic oil (M1 in this case) helped mask - when he switched back to dino, he lost two engines before he figured it out. (scavenge side of a dry sump pump was going bad)
