I am just curious what Dino and synthetic oil are all the rave currently and why? Also I'd like to know in real terms is there a big difference between a name brand dino and a synthetic like synpower , edge or Mobil 1 . Aren't synthetics not real synthetics any more? And aren't Dino oil becoming increasingly closer in quality to the "synthetics" I mentioned?

What kind of post is this?? No one can possibly answer any of your questions!!

Any oil that can be purchased at Walmart (API certified), as long as the viscosity is correct, will perform nicely in any engine. All new cars have an OLM that indicates when an oil change is due.

So, basically, whatever you choose to pour into your engine is fine. It's just a matter of preference. And if you choose to change your oil with 50% of the oil life left, no problem. If you choose to run your oil until it's -50%, there is a 90% chance that won't be a problem either.

OP.....Looking at your post count and join date, your post is pretty confusing.
Have you not learned anything in your 3+ years and 2700 posts here at BITOG?????

It's called a trolling post, one that is intended to start a contentious discussion so the OP can obtain enjoyment.

Sort of like rattling a monkey's cage.

Yes, conventional oils are much improved. Synthetic products do have some advantages, but for many applications they are small.

What do you want out of your oil? Without that we can spout generalities all day long and never answer your question adequately.

Close. If you want to ensure that there are no warranty questions, and make sure that the OLM gives an accurate assessment of when to change the oil, make sure that the oil you buy meets the required specification of the car. Late model GM cars require adherence to the appropriate dexos spec, and some of the German cars (VW comes to mind) have particular oil specifications that have to be met.

Once you've met these requirements, you should be good to go for as long as the OLM says.

Im sure ram_man is genuinely curious about how oils have come along in technology.
Maybe hes thinking can I get away with using Dino instead of Syn Bitog please help me.
Not everybody trolls ya know peoples.
Then some of you peeps respond with [censored].

Not really. I mean I have read on here that synthetics off the shelf at Walmart for example really aren't synthetic. And I've heard on here that Dino oil is so refine and such high quality that there isn't a big difference between them and the synthetics and that they are very similar in quality. I'm asking if that's true. And I'm also asking what seems to be popular on here nowadays? Used to it was pyb. It's not a troll post I don't want any argument I just want genuine decent discussion

You got everybody burnt out. When you ask a question and several people reply, you don't acknowledge their replies. It's like you start a thread and wait for the answers you want to hear - but if you don't like the answers you hear - you abandon the thread and start a new thread 10 minutes later.

I think what you meant to say was I ignore people like you. You haven't added any value to the conversation all you've done is talk and ramble about how I'm so terrible because i don't listen which in reality is so far from the truth it's laughable. I do listen but when nothing of value was added of course your going to be ignored.
