Motorcraft is 60% Group III synthetic & Ford has confidence in this oil out to 10,000 miles in some cases. I believe it's an excellent oil.

Pennzoil Gold is a 50/50 blend, I used to run it in a couple of my Ford's & it was always excellent. I followed the OLM to 7,500-10,000 on this oil. Typical Pennzoil quality!

Valvoline MaxLife & DuraBlend are 30-40% synthetic. MaxLife is obviously the high mileage version, but you'll have nothing but good results using it in an engine of any age or mileage. DuraBlend is difficult to find at reasonable cost in my area. MaxLife is basically DuraBlend + high mileage additives. I've had multiple good experiences with MaxLife & had a couple runs of DuraBlend in the '12 F-250 when it had 10,000-20,000 miles.

How do you knowvthese percentages, have a link to share?

Pennzoil Gold says 50/50 on the bottle. Valvoline employees online chat have told me MaxLife/DuraBlend are 30-40%. Ford dealer has told me Motorcraft is 60% & I have seen multiple people online state the same. No links needed. Look at a Pennz. Gold bottle, ask Valvoline on chat. As for Motorcraft, I suppose I can't technically prove it's 60% but I have heard that at least 10 times from different sources.

Thank you Wemay for the link

If thats accurate, good. But a semi can be anything having 10% of group 3 on it, witch doesnt do nothing, maybe make a group 2 getting SN Api, depending on its add pack. So, I rather brew my own lubes, also, from the information fluidity we got from such companies. Even though you dont have any kind of doc to instruct your 60% synthetic whatas bases arguments?

It doesn't matter to me or lot of people
Honestly. I won't play "chemist" and brew or make my own lubes. I'll trust Conoco-Phillips and or Ashland or SOPUS if that's ok for you to debate

I understand a bit where Pontual is coming from to a degree. I have mixed 2 qts of Pennzoil Platinum and 1.5 of PYB in my lady's Camry. I didn't think nothing of it. I do realize that I certainly don't know more than people who make these oils. It's just fun to do it.

It's not something I would do with a car under warranty by any means. But a car that's 17 yrs old its not a major concern to me. Plus I do believe that Pennzoil is using their gtl Platinum to make their synthetic blend. The Camry ran great with this blend and continues to run great.

+1 and I'd say that if Wal mart had NOT beat K Marts price I would have bought a jug of PYB "GOLD". Vote with your wallet

"If" the information is correct in the case of Pennzoil, then mixing your own PYB and PP you can easily make a blend as good or better than what you can buy from them. I wonder if it is really that simple?

Agreed! Brewing my own lubes--ha! How would you know what you have brewed other than seat of the pants results? I will take the manufacturer's testing over any home based concoction, but that is just me.

2015_PSD, when I added that front license plate to my truck, it not only gained 3-7/8 HP, it could pull a Geo Metro down a driveway!
