Whats the best spark plug?

I bought a car that had Bosch plugs already installed, and my mechanic nearly had a fit.

On a different vehicle, I replaced OEM NGK plugs with Autolites, and picked up a squeal in my radio. I put a set of NGK's back in, and the squeal went away.

I'll tend to stay with OE from now on.

I like NGK, Autolite and Bosch. I find that NGK's are excellent in anything you put them in. They've been the best plug ever used in my Harleys. The OEM Harley plugs (which are Champion) are garbage. I use Autolite coppers and Platinums depending on what the original application called for in cars I work on as well as my Jeeps. They've never caused an issue. I've actually got Autolite double platinums in my 94 LT1 Corvette and they've outlasted the OEM Delcos. I stopped using AC DELCO plugs when I saw many sets with the little "puck" missing and the cars misfiring. Lastly - I just changed my 2006 Sierra Denali plugs this weekend - I had an idle miss and the truck only has 51k miles. I've never seen a GM yet go 100k on original plugs - by 75k max you need to replacce them. I couldn't get NGK's for the truck because they only had 3, so I got the Bosch Iridium Fusion +4's and they seem to be working great! I hear bad things about Bosch, but I've ran the old style platinums in my 87 Grand National (turbo 3.8) as well as bikes, and other cars w/o issue.

Long winded - sorry!

Have you checked
www.bobisthesparkplugsguy.com website?

How about some recommendation from late night tv such as SplitFire or E3 spark plugs; guaranteed to double your horsepower?

Seriously, just put the new OEM plugs. And avoid Bosch on Japanese cars

We quit using Bosch spark plugs unless the vehicle originally came with them.

Factory plug types are generally best for all of us - they are usually the best choice for any car.

If there are known problem [rare] that are chronic with your vehicle, then a switching to a different brand or heat range is smart.
Forums on the web for your particular vehicle will help determine this.

I forgot to add that two spark plugs you NEVER want to use are the E3's and Pulstar. I have heard that the E3's work ok in lawn equipment, however.

If they don't list the DENSO long life, then I would go with the NKG as they seem to be well regarded by folks familiar with GM.

Bosch are not so good in many FORDS.....FORDs seem to do best with Motorcraft or Autolite.

With a front wheel drive car, you don't want to have to be changing spark plugs very often, as many are a major inconvenience to do the back ones.
The fancy, multiprong, or otherwise exotic designs are best avoided unless you can come up with LOTS of information that they truely are better than OEM in YOUR SPECIFIC APPLICATION (which is VERY rare).

A different than OEM design can cause problems right out of the box (Bosch multi-prong on a FORD) or degrade over time.....less time than you want.

Haven't read the whole thread, but I've had good experience with NGK V-Groove plugs in a bunch of different vehicles (cars, trucks, bikes).

The prices on Double Platinum and Iridium are crazy cheap! But given that OEM can go anywhere between 100K-150K, I would stick with the OEM ones.

But if your plugs are trivial to change, try these Champions and let us know if they work for you. They cost less than 1/4 th of corresponding NGK/Denso.

Well I figured I was only going to do it once, so I am going to do it right. NGK iridium ix plugs it is..

No not IX they do not have platinum on the ground electrode which you need for your wasted spark ignition for maximum plug life. You need NGK iridium lasers if you want maxiumum plug life and performance:
