I changed the spark plugs on my 2015 Subaru Crosstrek and found oil in one spark plug tube

Passed by the local Subaru dealer and got the OE. I’m not doing the job just yet, just want to have it on standby. It was cheap enough.

I just did a '15 Forester yesterday and #1 and #4 both had a fair bit of oil in the tubes. It's at 206k, though

You only got one side? You should probably do them both at the same time, since the other one will probably leak soon :sneaky:
It makes sense to do both sides, but from my research, the driver”s side is a bit more difficult so I’m going to wait on that one. Maybe I’ll do it on a day I get the itch.

Any misfires or check engine light? Or were you just replacing the spark plugs and saw the oil?

From what I’m reading online, it seems like most people discover this issue while changing plugs.

Nah the owner just wanted plugs done.

To be clear, I think the issue should be addressed. It just doesn't need to be a rush is all I'm saying.

Other vehicles seem more susceptible to misfires as a result of this condition. GM's 4.2 I6 is one. Maybe it's vertical vs horizontal plug wells I'd think.

That’s what I’ll be using for the sections in the pic.

I've seen 3 Bond specified in a BMW FSM before, but sourcing it was more difficult; the Permatex has been an able substitute where I've used it.

Next time I need to do the job, I'll probably use some Hylomar, which also does a nice job of holding gaskets in place as well, and is easier to clean up than hardened RTV sealant. I've run into that situation from a dealer who slathered blue RTV in excessive amounts that I had to clean up.
