Space has always fascinated me, and this question in particular. Like Einstein postulated, is our Universe one of many? Kind of like a bubble, in the midst of many bubble universes just like ours?

Or is there just an endless vacuum, that goes on forever?

Or is our universe like an atom in another immense universe that surrounds ours?

There is a mathematical proof in physics that universe is infinite, yet it has a finite volume. Recent studies indicate that universe might be shaped like Eithel tower with a spike going to infinity. What's beyond that is a more philosophical question rather than physics. Maybe it's not for humans to know...

Regards,

Ranger, it gets one to think that the space we occupy as individuals is so insignificant in terms of this universe, yet there are some who think we are all important and all knowing.

I hope you find peace as you contemplate such things.

It might be the universe we see in the 3rd dimension goes on forever but there might be a fourth dimension about energy we don't know of.

Another dimension of light, gravity and time might be what the universe is made of.

Go ask Einstien he might know

The universe has no shape or end. If it did, what? Do you hit a wall? Well then what is on the other side? It never ends and we are not the only thing intelligent in it.

Something else to ponder.I believe that there is an all knowing Creator of man. What does 'He' think about us? That is the REAL question.

I happen to believe in God and an endless universe....my God doesn't "rule" by fear, nor intimidate with guilt...(but that's another thread)

I don't think us peons or the other peons on other planets can even fathom how God "thinks"...I just know, well I'm pretty certain, that God doesn't stew linearly like us Earthlings...so as far as the un and viewable unending 3D space, well even that's nothing at all compared to the rest of the universe...

Well, scientifically speaking, the universe does have an end. In fact, the universe has been expanding since the "big bang." The universe is expanding into empty space......that empty space is the one no one knows how far it goes.
The Hubble space telescope "reportely" can see almost as far as the end of the universe......which I think is 10 or 15 billion light-years away.

Last_Z,
yeah, I keep reading that there is a finite end of the universe (maybe not a resteraunt there

).

But if there's a definite end of the universe, what is the universe contained in ?

"What's Out There Beyond The Known Universe?"

As interesting as your question is, logically, it can never be answered. If you can say anything about what's beyond the "known" universe, then it too is known, and not part of the "unknown" universe. . .

Now, what's really got me thinking: I wonder if German Castrol is as popular in the unknown universe as it is right here close to home?

I can't wait to ask the one who made it all when we are face to face.

Well He created us, so whatever is "wrong" with us is His fault.
And why does anybody owe anyone anything or have to believe a certain way? No one I know asked to be born.
Chew on that. Guess I am going to h3ll

Just hypotheticals really, that maybe some are afraid to ask? I just don't believe in a God that rules by fear. If you do, I don't want any part of that God. Seems that all people believe what they want to believe anyway...even if they are suposedly the same religion.

Nothing.

Now I have a hard time with the concept ..but the way I've heard it described is that the "universe" is a bubble of "existance" ..period. That is, "nothing" existed on or in our known planes of existance before the big bang (including the planes themselves) ..and the expansion of the big band is the limit of our "known planes of existance".

I find it hard to beleive that we are the only beings in this great universe. We may not know how big space really is either. I also believe in science rather than folklore.

It really would be interesting to see what is out there...

Probably a lot more universes. But I really don't give a damm! There is enough to keep me occupied on this ball of dirt. I sure as **** won't be taking any trips to the Moon or Mars in my lifetime.

As taken from the NeverEnding Story Childrens Flick

"The Nothing"

Although even that prospect seems spooky. Ill have to ask my Phycist friend on this.
