This is why I hoarded OG Ultra's, First Brand cheapened the hell out of everything they touched.
Ordered a cutter from Amazon. I'll post pictures tomorrow to see if it's just an st4967 with a fancy paint job. This is why I hoarded OG Ultra's, First Brand cheapened the hell out of everything they touched.
If it has metal end caps, then yes it's basically a SuperTech MP. If it has fiber end caps then it's a basic SuperTech.Ordered a cutter from Amazon. I'll post pictures tomorrow to see if it's just an st4967 with a fancy paint job.
Its a sad day when a Chinese made filter is better quality than one made in the USA by a company that has been making filters for 80 years.Geese. We are running out of good quality filters to run to when other brands cheapen theirs.
I wouldn't bother cutting it open; I you looked into the center core, That 97,5%Ordered a cutter from Amazon. I'll post pictures tomorrow to see if it's just an st4967 with a fancy paint job.

Do you have a lab to analyze the excised media?
Just run the thing for crying out loud!
Fram is FB/Trico now. The old heyday of wire backed ultra is no more.
Sorry for the emotion, I just hit the tipping point of all this oil filter hand wringing![]()
Who cares. Only FRAM I use is OG ULTRA’s I find at sales or eBay or from friends.Picked up an xg4967 at Walmart yesterday and noticed it was an e-core. Media looks different from what I've seen in ultra's before and the cage is too. I'm used to seeing pinkish, beige or sometimes the white material but I haven't seen the material from a ph in an ultra. Won't know exactly what it is until I cut it open but I tried getting the best pictures I could.
Honestly don't know what to think about fram now a days as my regular filters regularly change center tube, filter media and qc issues I can visibly see from the outside.

How do you like Carquest Premium oil filters as a good option ? I picked up a few on sale not long ago from Advanced Auto with 15% off .I agree. But in the current situation we don’t have many other options.
Best option currently IMO. I run those and other PG made clones myself. How do you like Carquest Premium oil filters as a good option ? I picked up a few on sale not long ago from Advanced Auto with 15% off .
