Stevie is one of the best ever, my opinion. Playing Hendrix. Title is wrong, should say Jimi. Oops. Anyway, I love Stevie Ray Vaughan's interpretation of Hendrix's songs. He's done a bunch of them, and embellishes in just the right ways.

Regarding the title, I do wonder how artists react when some other musician covers one of their songs? Especially a classic.

I watched an interview with Chet Atkins a few years ago where he surprised me when he said the two best guitarists he'd ever seen were Glen Campbell and Mark Knopfler.
I have that atkins/knopfler album and it is a pretty freaking good album...I will say Glen Campbell was as good as they come as well.

Glen was a virtuoso for sure. His 68 hit recording of Gentle on My Mind was a quick demo that the producers thought didn't need to be improved.

When I saw the title, I assumed it was asking about Jimmie Vaughan, Stevie Ray's older brother and founding member of The Fabulous Thunderbirds.

Campbell was a studio musician in LA and played on many hits. In 1964 The Beach Boys made their first tour of Europe. Brian Wilson was sick and didn’t go. Glen Campbell took his place. On their way home they got talked into doing two more concerts in Va. Beach and Richmond. I went to the Richmond concert. Nobody had any idea who that guy was. They sounded great like they were supposed to. Years later I’m watching TV and there’s that guy. I learned what his name was.

I was enamored with SVR's playing and performance back in the day. I saw him 7 times in concert at various places around the Midwest over several years. I recall the day his passing was announced; I was driving to work and heard it on the radio - what a gut punch.

I would put him in the top 5 all time guitar players.

He played on MTV's "Unplugged" (acoustic) show once. There are videos out there; well worth the watch.
