There are many, many different 'types' of ester oils: diesters, triesters, polyol esters....

What type of ester is the 'bio-based' ester oil in RLI?

Is 'bioester' a type of ester? Or is it something like a 'bio-sourced diester'?

???

RLI uses natural esters from genetically-engineered plants, and they've patented some process for stabilizing these oils. I really can't address it beyond that, since I'm not a chemist.

Probably proprietary information. Typically it's a blend of several esters because they want to harness the strengths of each.

Their tech guys are exceptional -- give them a call and flat-out ask.

Right, unprocessed vegetable oils oxidize rapidly at high temp's in an engine. Different veg' oils of course have different properties and the RLI website goes into a lot about that. One veg' oil they don't use is Castor, the king of veg' oils, probabily due to cost and it's lack if miscibility with most other oils.
