If it were mine, I would change before the trip. You're probably totally fine if you don't though. I bet a lot of rental cars do 10K+ miles on the factory fill.
I don't like having an out of town shop or dealer do anything to a vehicle if I can avoid it. If they screw up, it's going to be that much more of a headache to deal with. That said, I had my truck's oil changed and a tire plugged while out of town before with no issues (awesome service actually).
