Good Korning folks. I inherited dad’s old 5 shot Smith and Wesson short barrel 38 revolver. I’m working on finding way to get rid of it since it’s not even registered. It’s not very accurate at all after 15 yards. Just bought a darn nice BERSA 380 ACP at Rural King also; I’m in heaven with that gun 😍😍

Thank You for any and all advice.

If it has no monetary or sentimental value and you just don't want it or the liability of possessing it, bring it to the local police station.

Do you live in a state where a firearm needs to be registered?

Second the gun show sale of it. You'd be amazed at what an older revolver could bring at one of those as there are collector's roaming around looking for older pieces. Or ask around and find someone locally that would know it's value and give you a fair price or sell it for you. If you're simply looking to get rid of it, the local police can help in that regard. We used to take old surrendered guns in all the time and either auction them off if in shootable condition or destroy them.

unless you are in a state that requires it, there is no registration so not much to worry about. can you post a pix of it and perhaps we can help you determine its value so you can sell it

So I discovered that in PA I don’t have to register a handgun 🎊🎉

So selling it should be easy. I’m torn on what to do with it. Dad bought it from friend and didn’t shoot it much. I have many boxes of “snake shot” and hollow points dad reloaded himself.

If selling without the use of a FFL I recommend a bill of sale and a copy of the purchasers driver license under the signature line on the bill of sale.

Edit: Unlikely you will get anything near a reasonable price from a FFL/pawn shop buying it from you. I don't particularly like Gunbroker but its an option and often higher return on a sale can be realized.
