What to do with a bunch of older filters?

Hello...new member here! Great source of info!

Anyway I acquired 3 unused boxs of 3 different filters but they are very old...i'd say early '80s manufacture. One of the sizes will fit one of my applications but should I use them because they are so old? The specific filters are:
1) STP S-02849 (dated 1981)
2) Warner PH-2850 (probably 1983-1984)
3) P&D (Facet) OF-2850 (these look quite nice)

If not wise to use, are they just trash???

So long as the base plates &/or inner metal tubes aren't filthy with rust, I'd use the ones that fit my car, & sell the rest here or on Ebay.

A 20 year old filter should be history by now. I'm throwing away new ten year olds to make room for the latest.

I used two Sears Spectrum oil filters that my neighbor gave me back in 83. I just took the second one out of service last week.

Yeah, satisfy our curiosity, protect your car, and still use some of them if the cut open ones are OK. Prod the media good and make sure it is still flexible enough to stand up to use.

Do you have multiple of each filter or just one of each? If you have multiple, cut one open and inspect the internals and make sure they are not degrading.

I have multiples of each. Anyone willing to do the cutting and photos if I send you one of each? I'll pay the shipping. I've never cut a filter open and think it may be better to have someone do it who has done it before.

Patience, miraCRD, patience. If no one takes you up on your offer, I'll do it ..but it may take me a week or two to post the results. I'm running short on "experimental-testing" energy. I've slayed a few dragons ..as good or as poorly as I may have done the tasks.

I was hoping that we would have cultivated a few more "dynamically active" members by now (we have quite a few ..but there's never too much of a good thing).
