what parts are you missing/ too lazy to replace?

I took out the baffles in the Buick's airbox and cut a larger hole into it. The 3800 V6 was previously breathing through a 1.5" diameter hole. The hole is larger now. It's also missing some hardware holding the plastic lower air dam on. Whatever, it's stayed on for 40k miles, it'll stay like that forever. Also I never re-installed some hold-downs for the cabin wiring harnesses. It's a 5 lb weight savings...

Nothing on the Fit. All the parts are still there.

It's not missing because I removed it during summer months from May until November: Windshield Wipers. We have no rain in those months so no use for wipers and it looks cool too.

The dome light/door ajar switch on the passenger side door of my truck is completely gone. I had to replace the door, and the 2002 door lock and related components would not fit the 1994 door without modifications. I had to use the 1994 latch, which doesn't have the dome light/door ajar switch. The light simply doesn't come on when that door is opened now.

The factory mudflaps are also off the truck. They scrape stuff and don't help out a lot. I had to take one off when replacing a fender, so I decided to just get rid of all four.

The gap guards for the front inner fenders are also off right now. I have to pull one off to get to the oil filter anyway, so they are sitting next to the mudflaps in my garage right now.

Other than that, the truck is intact.

Most of the dash and kick panels on my Beetle are gone after repairing the AC. They're sitting in a pile in my office, including the radio, glove compartment, center console, shift lever boot, and crash bracing. For the longest I didn't even have the shifter knob installed but put it back on when I got tired of shifting gears with a 3/4" thick metal rod.

The passenger side view mirror on my Suburban has had a large chunk missing out of it since I've had the vehicle. Could I have replaced it by now? Yes, but I just haven't yet justified the $80 I'd have to spend on a new power mirror.

The plastic clips that break 50% of the time when undoing them that hold my engine cover on.

Right now gravity and the hood's turbo scoop rubber duct holds my engine plastic cover in place.

on my LS400:

valve cover gaskets
speedometer needle illumination
colder spark plugs (light pinging sometimes under boost)
need to install a bypass valve or blow-off valve
that's mostly it.

Very nice/clean looking engine. What did you use on the engine to make it so nice ?

Missing right now: one engine cover bolt that was cross threaded and had to be pried out with vice grips and a flat tipped screw driver.

Likely going soon: my mudflaps as the plastic retainer clips that hold them in place on the rear side are no longer holding them onto anything, so they can be wiggled easily by hand. Not an issue now, but will be when winter comes.

Everything else is intact and working, though for the longest time I've debated replacing my dummy spare with a can of run flat. My summer AS tires are also gone while I look for a new set over the winter and put my winters on early in August. 8 years of dry rot finally got the better of them.

Driver's-side headlight assembly and side marker assembly
Driver's side front quarter panel!

TO be fair, I replaced the headlight assembly--with a tractor implement light from Farm & Fleet!

Well, now you have to post pics! Sounds interesting!

I just spent $0.75 today to replace the plastic fasteners that fill 1/2 the holes on the engine cover in my Vibe.

I replaced the spark plugs a while back and those little fasteners broke off. I didn't think it would be a great deal since there were still two acorn nuts holding it on.

However, it makes a racket when the engine starts up when it's cold and at idle. So apparently this cover was flapping around and making noise.

So I got more of those plastic fasteners for $0.75 and it's much quieter now.

That's it for me.

On my Saturn my driver's power window quit working. I'm afraid to try working on it because I cannot get the window midway to remove it to expose the motor/regultor 'innards'. Also I don't want to pony up the dough and leave my car for a day or two with someone and use another car for work (300 miles daily). AND, the previous owner said they already had it fixed once. Thats two power window units in 160k miles. Just not worth it to me, unless I can somehow install a crank and use my arm instead of junk technology. Maybe being a heavy coupe window doesn't help, but every power window'd car I've ever owned has let me down. I wish automakers would get it right before installing something when they could use tried and true crank windows. Saves money and weight too! Win Win, but no, they want to lose lose

I just say 'no' to power windows - at least until I'm left with nothing else to chose from.

The Buick has some engine splash shielding that's been forced into place for the past year, and is missing half the bolts for the front engine shield. It's been like that for the past year, so whatever...
