What oils are made in Canada?

I'm on Vancouver Island and tried to get Co-op oil for my last oil change but was unable to source anything bigger than a 1L bottle. I called them up to ask about getting 5L bottles and was told they aren't sold anywhere on the island.

I'd say Co-op is the best option, being 100% Canadian sourced, refined, and bottled...and probably available fairly readily in large parts of Western Canada....just not for me.

There are several smaller brands that are Canadian. I recently saw a non-detergent straight 30 bottle of "Wakefield Oil" at Lordco and looked them up. They don't seem to make much of anything for gas engines but do have a diesel line of lubricants.

Wakefield Canada is the blender/bottler of Castrol in Canada. They also distribute Super Clean in Canada.

Carquest's house brand oil is made in Canada by April (technically Verco) in Quebec. Can't think of anything else that hasn't been mentioned yet.
April has its own brand as well but not sure where to buy it, maybe at Napa Canada. Here is an interesting synthetic 5w50 racing oil. Made in Canada.

Carquests in Canada have their oils made by April Super Flo which is 100% Canadian..........................

I was surprised when I looked up the specs, they are actually decent oils for the price.
All CarQuest conventional oils (Black bottle) are actually synthetic blends advertised as conventional

Synthetics are in the Grey Bottle, and are decent for the price, not to mention 100% Canadian to boot.

Very good to know sir 🇨🇦

Most Pennzoil and Quaker State grades are blended and bottled in Brockville, Ontario from domestic and imported components. The euro offerings are coming from Germany or US.

The Motomaster brand of oil at Canadian Tire is mostly Shell products, and bottled by Shell in Brockville.

Much of the Castrol sold here is blended and bottled in Toronto by Wakefield Canada from domestic and imported components. The euro offerings coming from Belgium or US.

Petro-Canada which is owned by HF Sinclair is the only one I know of that is making actual base oils for lubes in Canada.
I love Canada and I always support Canada. Beautiful country.

Right back at you! I love visiting the United States as well. Where I’m standing right now I can see the USA! I’m on the Canadian side of Niagara Falls so I’m only about a quarter mile away from NY state. I cross over often to do shopping (that’s where I bought all of my Valvoline Restore and Protect!) 🤩

Yes, Co-op is Western Canadian. Refined right here in Saskatchewan.

I never thought much of market availability as it's incredibly easy to find out here on the Prairies.

I’m down there at that boat launch for the Hornblower cruise six days a week! I give walking tours starting from the Niagara Parks Power Station and then I drop my guests off to go on the boat. We’re very busy right now, I have had a lot of days where I’m there at the falls from 9am until 5pm. It’s so much fun meeting people from all over the world every day but my most fun tours are with Americans! I had a group yesterday from Florida at the same time as a group from Virginia and they were very interactive, asking lots of questions, laughing at my bad jokes and they were very generous tippers too (Americans are way better tippers than any other country)

Nothing wrong with supporting your country and buying things produced there, you should be patriotic! Nothing political about that. I try to buy things made in the USA when I can.

I spent a lot of time visiting Canada when I was younger, a good friend of mine was from Saskatchewan. Beautiful place and people. Wouldn’t give it a second thought to buy things produced there.

To be fair the only country I try my best to avoid at all possible is China. I’ll just leave it at that.

Must be a regional thing, the Pennzoil Ultra I picked up for the next few oil changes for the Ram says “Made in USA of domestic and imported components”.
