What oil should I put in my 2002 Toyota Corolla LE living in the California heat.

what about 10W40? I have a 200 Corolla and posted over the weekend and I believe several mentioned to go up to 10W40. My car calls for 5W30 just like above and has the well known oil consumption issue.

I had the same 1ZZ-FE engine in our 2003 Pontiac Vibe - Had it for 14 yrs and sold it a couple of years back .
We live in a climate that sees a lot of high heat and humidity . Mostly 5W-30 conventional was used - a majority was Valvoline.
Any 5W-30 / 10W-30 will do you fine . Changed mine every 4k-5K miles due to short trips being 80% of it's use. I used larger oil filters just for grins , Fram PH3600 long and PH3614 short.

Also : Change your pcv valve to help oil consumption .
