Hi all!
First post here. I am used to read BITOG forums since a while. Theres tons of information so I appreciated everything I learned so far.

Bike: '11 Honda Transalp 700 w/ 11562miles on the clock (V twin water cooled for those of you who doesn't know). Bought with ~7500mi.
Manual says: 10W30 SJ JASO MA OCI 3750mi
Riding: once a week trip average 250miles at 65mph.
Temps in my region: summer 77-110ºF. winter 50-82ºF (may/jun/jul)

Current oil: Shell Advance 10W30 SL JASO MA (3400miles on it).

So what would you experts recommend on what oil to use given the circumstances?

To be honest, I have nothing to claim about that Shell oil. No issues so far (3400mi) regarding shifting, no oil consumption or whatsoever. I am looking forward to perform an UOA but thats another history.
I must say the bike has been exposed to extreme temps like 100ºF and even 110.

Thanks in advance.

Being your bike is water cooled should take some stress off the oil. What you didn't mention is what types of oil are available where you are. We could say to use this or that, but if you can't get it what's the point?.,,

John, I would switch to a different oil if that is better in terms of protection and shear stability than the current one.

So where I am, available oils are:
sintetic: 15w50, 10w40
semi-sintetic: 10w30, 10w40
mineral: 20w50
Mobil, Motul, Shell, Petrobras, Havoline, Shell, Yamalube, Honda genuine, ELF. All motorcycle-specific, SF-SL.
HDEO is sold only in 20L gallon. Definitely don't worth for me.
