What oil do you guys recommend?

I have a mild modified 2003 MACH1, 4.6L DOHC 32v.

I've been running CG 0w-30 with a Motorcraft filter since I my last change, the RP 5w-20 has gotten to pricey($9 vs &7 for the CG). I have a case of CG and a Ford Racing filter set for my next change but was wondering what you guys recommend. I hear the CG is close to a 40 oil, would that make it to heavy for my car which is recommended to run a 20?

Check Walmart supercenters..........the one here has RP for only a lil more than $6 a quart.
 
What's UOA stand for?

My local Walmart doesn't carry RP.

UOA = Used Oil Analysis
VOA = Virgin Oil Analysis
OCI = Oil Change Interval
 
I'd stick with a 20 or 30 weight. Yes GC is a 30 weight, but it is a bit thick, near a 40 weight.

However, you can run GC and get as far as you want to go with that engine.

Look around, read a bit, and trust me. In four-six weeks you will know more about motor oil than most mechanics. You will be able to choose the oil brand and weight you want to use by your own wants and needs.

I have a close friend that has the same car that is mildly modified and runs great,with 3.55 gear.
he has long tube hedders installed and a set of 4.30 gears waiting to go in. He was using Mobil1 and switched to Amsoil 5w20 racing oil and he is very happy with it.
We will posting soon a UOA on his combination to see the results.
it has about 6500 milrs now on the oil and we will wait till about 10,000 to sample it.
 
KDS I have the same car. If price is a issue and you want to run 5w30 try PP 5w30. I would not go to anything thicker than the GC.
Amsoil 5w30 XL would also be great oil. Hope you love that Mach as much as I love mine.

Heck yes it would.

I would never run anything thicker than a 5W-30 in a Ford 4.6 V8.

They run great on 5W-20's.
 
Thanks guys. It sounds like I should really be running something thinner.

Does Motorcraft make a full synthetic? Who else makes true synth's? I haven't found AMS oil anywhere around my place yet.

Also is it safe to mix oils? I have 1/2qt of RP and 1/2 of GC. is it safe to mix them with other oils? if not how do you suggest I get rid of them?

Motorcraft does make a full synthetic in weights from 5W-20 to 5W-50. You probably need to go to your local Ford dealer to get them though.

Incidentally, they also make a high mileage oil...
