Marketing and kickbacks that’s why. Any idiot can say this filter and this oil is God’s gift to cars engines but only a fool like you would fall for that marketing hype. End of discussion.

Guess specs and SAE/ISO tests mean nothing to the uniformed. LOL

To the OP,

The reason Toyota oil additives are blended specifically for Toyota engines is the moly content. The Japanese love moly and they put large amounts in their oil. The Mazda Moly oil made by Idemitsu has over 800ppm of moly. Mitsubishi oil doesn't have that much moly but it's still up there. These oils are made by Idemitsu and JX Nippon. The Mobil made TGMO may not have that amount of moly in it. Since oil contracts vary by region, the additive package will also vary. For Mazda Europe their oil is made by Total.

Some people will continue with these oils thinking they are better but all major brands of oil use different compositions to achieve the same results. Valvoline has no moly or boron yet produces excellent analysis reports that we have seen here.

So in the end no oil is best. Brand bias is strong with oil just as it is with vehicles.

Then quaker state and now pennzoil.

Just gotta be smart enough to filter the marketing talk with actual test data, specs, etc to know what's going on - that goes for filters, oil, etc.

Seems the only thing you know how to do is call people names in every reply. I'm sure everyone takes you "seriously".

hey it wouldn’t have been a issue but mister know it all attacked me with his fram [censored] so I defended myself. I didn’t come to the forums to be bullied by internet keyboard warriors and weekend mechanics. I came to the forums to learn from others but it seems that’s not possible with Peale like ZeeOSix and SilverFusion

So you've been around here before, correct? This isn't your first run at BITOG is it?

No, you haven't.

You and planeman223 should get together, I'm sure you'd have a lot to discuss. Oh wait, planeman223 was deleted from the user list. Never mind.

To be fair, you're the one who took this off topic with a claim (well, insinuation) based solely upon conjecture that a Supertech filter was better than a Fram Ultra filter. Your comment below was the first one to mention Fram Ultra in this discussion.

Pennzoil might be good oil now a days but it’s not the best and I’d rather use a cheap super tech filter from Walmart then any fram filter period.

I don't use Fram oil filters, but you do realize you're going to be called on this. You've seen too many vehicles with engine damage because of them? If you can prove this, Fram should be writing a big cheque then, right?

On topic, with respect to TGMO, Toyota, and a few other automakers, I suggest would be better off having a partnership with a product that can be bought through normal channels. Chrysler does it with Shell. Nissan/Infiniti Canada does it with Mobil, though worldwide, Renault Group and Castrol are looking to arrange things.

Actually I have. I am the top mechanic at a garage and have seen more motor issues from fram filters then any other in this is in the last 10 years so believe what you want to believe but I wouldn’t put a fram on a lawn mower

And? Your point is? I said I would use a cheap super tech before I use a fram. Yes I said that. Why? Cause fram is junk and that’s the plain hard truth

Wrong. And yes I have seen it happen to too many cars from fram filters.
