What kind of oil do they spray on dirt roads?

If you saw oil being sprayed onto a dirt road it was either MC-70 or MC-80 Tack Oil. This just helps the rock that is spread onto the road surface stick really good and not just roll off. Don't get it on your clothes or shoes, it will never come out in laundry! Hope this helps.

Sometimes they use calcium chloride for dust control. In Florida they use nothing. Better to have silicosis in the lungs then dead weeds on the side of the road.

There are a few companies marketing a soybean oil based road dust suppressant (google it). Calcium chloride is used quite a bit in Michigan.

My experience in various parts of this country is that Provinces are using CaCl now exclusively. Something about environmental concerns, I believe. John.
