Neighbour is selling for parent, 3.9 v6 4 speed trans. 6000 miles asking $11900.

Interior is showroom new, front bumper small scuff the rest mint always kept in garage.

It use to be when one bought a old low mile garage queen, the rear main seal would often blow at a low mileage from the multiple dry starts. The valve stem seals might also have more more wear than usual for the low mileage. Big difference if that car had those miles being 2 years old vs what is becoming 10 model years old now.

If this is Canadian dollars, then it's in the ballpark, but not a bargain. If the car was maintained and driven regularly (unlikely) then it would be more interesting, but otherwise it depends about how you feel about the car (can't buy one like it anymore) and whether you can handle the cost of uncertain repairs.

Edmunds shows the value of the car between $5,300.00 & $8,000.00 too you can find information regarding the vehicle problems. Another site shows value being between $5,800.00 and $8,200.00.

These are my thoughts as well this car sets arounds a lot god knows what seals and gaskets are dried out and ready to leak.

Remember he's in Canada, so gross up 30% to Canadian dollars. And this is trade-in value. You have to offer more than trade-in or he can take it to carmax.

Expect age related electrical issues like wonky instrument panels. I'd only be interested if you otherwise really liked that car and wanted a cherry version.

Unless he knocks it down to 8500 CAD, I’d take a hard pass.

You’re looking at nearly 1k to proper get it up to date. Tires, fluids, brakes, among other updates it might need to make it trip worthy....

This is the exact amount that i had in mind, or its a pass for me, i need a second car but not something this big only draw is it looks like it just rolled out of the showroom except for the scratched bumper.

My thoughts are I'd rather buy a car with some miles on it then one that has sat for years. You are asking for trouble. If you want it low ball them and explain why.

Th only other concern I would have is it has been rust proofed or not. That could also be a big factor in the issues that it could have.....

It's simply not good for cars to sit that much. Every older ultra low mileage cream puff that was purchased in my little circle of awareness was a lot more trouble than it should have been.

I’d make sure you really like it before you buy. My grandparents have an 08 Lucerne and the visibility out of it (particularly out the rear window) is absolutely horrendous. It drives good and gets good MPG (has the 3.8) but the poor visibility is a deal breaker for me.

I'd avoid it. Sure the mileage is low, but it would really have to be in good shape, and those aren't sought after cars. My fear would be mice and other critters making a mess of the wiring.

First of all don't worry about the seals drying out and leaking, the rear main is teflon and the rest are synthetic materials and not prone to dry out.
With on 6K on it you can throw the book away, any price from a book is not worth the paper its printed on, its worth as much as somebody wants to pay for it.
In mint condition with 6K this car has a lot of life in it. I would change all the fluids, check the battery belts, hoses and tires for cracking but other than that you shouldn't have to do anything much, possibly lube the rubber body seals.

If you like it and are willing to pay the price why not.

(oops on 3.9 vs. 3800 motor -sorry)
====================
100% agree with Trav that price guides are not useful for extremely low mileage. I love the 3800 motor but this is a fairly bland big car. If that's what you want, great, but make sure you're likely to like it and what you're comfortable paying.

Then not much to love it has a 227-hp, 3.9-liter not the 3800?

Personally I think if the OP likes the car around $10000 is pretty fair.
12k even CAD is pretty hefty but maybe someone loves that car and will pay it..
have to decide what its worth to you.

I'd budget for new fluids, battery, and tires. even if the tires have good tread it might be pretty hard from aging.
and a good detailing including treating all the door seals etc.

I always wonder about people worrying about the seals. They are all like you said Teflon or synthetic. My truck sat a lot. The Trans Am sits a lot. They don't leak because they are not old paper, cork gaskets. This isn't 1960 or 1970. Check the rubber stuff and you should be good to go. As far as price. I can't help with that, but with that type of mileage. It has tons of life left in it.
