What Is Your Shop's Labor Rate?

I don't have any idea what the independent's or the dealer's around here charge. Why?!
1) I drive a Ford Ranger
2) Service/repairs done by myself when needed.

$110 an hour here. I think light repair and maintainence it less, somewhere around $75-80.

which BMW dealer charges $275? BMW dealers usually charge $120-145. Even the priciest exotic dealers don't charge over 200/hr.



Concord ca bmw. My mouth dropped when I saw his estimate for it. 1200 dollars really? Recently had a close friend of mine have her starter go out on her 03 bmw 330 same dealer quoted her 1500 for the replacement over the phone.

You can get many a transmission mildly rebuild around here for that much or not much more.

Local GM dealer labor rate here is $95/hr.

There's is a Japanese auto repair shop in our town and the fellow Asian guy is charging my brother-in-law $160 (labor only) for a radiator and thermostat replacement, and also coolant flush.

I use an indy that used to be a Dodge/Chrysler dealer mechanic.He charges $60-65 an hour but will usually give you an estimate and charges pretty close,unless there is more needed than thought,to what he quoted you.

I had intake,plenum gaskets,water pump,thermostat,by-pass hose and an oil sender/switch replaced and everything,labor included was less than $400.

My preferred shop for most everything, including my Citroens.

We only have domestic car dealers in town, about $85 an hour for them.

If you can afford to drive a BMW then you can't complain when it comes to repairs/maintenance.

It doesn't mean you should be forced to pay unreasonable prices. $275/hr is unreasonable for Concord.

Our Kia shop (the dealer) charges $103/hour. But since I'm an employee, I get labor at $50/hour. That's awesome!

OT but I thought all new BMWs included maintenance. Maybe the absurd labor rate is to intentionally pass on all the non warranty work.

A guy I used charged $50/hr but now jacked the price up to $100/hr because he's using a bay out of a old warehouse. Basically, it cost me more to have work done when it takes him much less time due to the availability of a lift. Recently, it cost $200 in labor only to have rear pads replace and rotors turned. I was expecting $150 but the price was $250 and he indicated he's giving me a $50 break. To me, that is the same cost the dealership would have charge since I got the parts from the dealer. At least I was standing right there when things were done so I know they were indeed done and done right instead of relying on someone that would charge and don't do work.

$91/hr here in somewhat expensive NW NJ at the large indie shop I use. They do lots of commercial truck work in addition to cars and SUV/PU. Don't know what dealers are charging now. But my guess is in the $150++ range based upon my last visit 4 years ago to a dealer. My indie has no problems having me bring my own parts if I want to. Of course there is no parts warranty in that case. And any labor related to removing defective parts I brought are my expensive. So far so good.
