I've been sort of all over the map on my current vehicle...first it was 3,000 miles because I was all excited about the thing, then it was the recommended 5,000, now I'm pushing it to 7,500. I've used a high quality synthetic the entire time - except when I fell off the wagon and used NAPA full synthetic for a year...but we don't want to talk about that.

In the process of determining with UOA; so far by OLM which has been 8000-9200 miles.

Really? Highway miles easiest on oil, and with synthetic too! What a waste....

otoh, did you get a UOA?

UOA used to determine what my OCI would be, now I just go with 5-6k on all vehicles. Could I go longer, absolutely. Heck I could even go shorter, but the vehicles I have now all use synthetic and are easy to change so I go 5-6k and change the oil and rotate the tires. Its working out well for me and gives me peace of mind that I can jump in any vehicle in the driveway and take off.

+1 That's my exact regimen with synthetic oil in a DI engine...5K to 6K miles usually by the calendar works better than following an oil minder or trying to get x additional miles out of an OCI. Some folks here have a hard time with that concept and think it's a personal affront to the engineers who programmed the algorithms on the dashboard oil minder.

For both my Kia Optima (GDI Turbo Engine) and Nissan Rogue (NA engine), the OEM "normal" service schedule is 5K miles.
I do mine at ~4K (I'm a bit conservative). For long-term warranty issues (10yr/120K mile), that is what I will follow.

I follow the OLM on the RDX and that usually ends up at 7000 miles or so. Once a year for the SAABs, probably not necessary on the 2000 (around 3k/year) but with rebates I figure I might as well. Plus, she's coming up on 17 years old so she deserves nice things.

In my Altima, since it's still under warranty, and also since I negotiated free changes every 5k miles from the dealership.. 5k miles.

In my Fusion, I've historically always done 7,500 mile OCIs on whichever oil was in it (usually a blend of conventional and synthetic on a Motorcraft filter). This time, however, I'm stretching it to 10,000 miles, since it's got Pennzoil Ultra Platinum in it, and a Fram Ultra filter on it. I will be doing a UOA on it after the change, too, just to see how the engine held up to the extra 2.5k.
