80,400 miles as of today. I got truck used with around 70,000 miles on it. One owner and I had no idea what oil he used, I got it from a Ford dealer and they had changed the oil using Motorcraft per the door sticker. I ran some Amsoil engine flush thru and put in the 0W-30 for 2 reasons: 1) I had it on hand and 2)Wanted the easy cold starts as truck is used mainly for plowing snow and a winter vehicle. I has not used any oil in the 10,000 miles I had it and they all ran in Amsoil.

Personally I never use any other oils. I have nothing against Mobil but just recently heard that Exxon/Mobil made $20 billion profit in 2003 and I can say I did not contribute to it. Mobil gas stations are few and far between in my part of the world.

I change oil on all vehicles at 5k or 6 months, whichever come first. I change at 5k because it's easier to keep up with on the odometer.

'97 Exploder - 140k miles and it's run a steady diet of M1 5W-30 until 2 changes ago when I started on GC all with the M1 filter. I had a startup tick noise with M1 that went away after a couple of seconds. My first run of GC also gave me the same problem but on this last change, no more start up noises.

'03 Civic - 4,200 miles and still on the break in oil. I have a case of RL 5W-20 that I'll run along with either the M1 110 or 104 filter. This car will see 6 month changes because the wife only drives it 4 miles one way to work. With some errands maybe 25 miles a day.

'01 Audi A4 1.8TQ - OCI: 5K miles or 1 year, whichever comes first. Currently, it takes me around 1 year to actually get to that 5K mile mark.

Oil used:
right now - M1 0w-40,
past - M1 5w-30, M1 0w-30
future - GC 0w-30

Normal OCI, one year or 6000 miles on Chevron Delo 400, 15W-40. Motorcraft, Purolator/Proline or Champion Labs/STP filters, depending upon application and availability.

1987 Dodge Ram Van
1992 BMW 325i
1994 Ford F-150

The BMW currently has 10W-40 Castrol Syntec as an experiment and the OCI will be one year (8-10,000 miles) with STP filter.

1st 3 vehicles, all 6,000 miles on 10W-30 M1

2000 Acura 3.2TL, 85,000 miles, Wix filters, going to switch to Fleetguard Stratapore. Bought car new.

1996 Corvette, 41,600 miles, came with Fram filter, just started using Fleetguard Stratapore. Bought used last November.

1996 GMC Sonoma S-15 4.3L, 97,000 miles. AC, Purolator and now Wix filters. Bought new. Going to sell soon.

1997 Suzuki 1200 Bandit. 22,000 miles, Suzuki filters, Delvac or Delo 15W-40 dino oil, 3000 mile change intervals.

None of the above come close to needing oil added between changes.

1996 Chevy Caprice Classic 75K: GC 0W30 untill the oil life monitor comes on. Then sample oil, change filter, and reset the OLM computer. Keep using the oil untill the lab says to change it.

1997 Plymouth Neon: Wife's car. 3K OCI on conventional. Currently Pennzoil 5W30 Conventional, although I tried to persuade her to go to synthetic and extended OCIs *OR* to just use Supertech 5W30. We just discovered this has an oil leak, so I may not encourage anything besides conventional going forward.

If it's still open add delvac 15w-40 and supertech filter @ 7000m on a 97 GMC Z-71, and mobil1 10w-30 and motorcraft filter on a 01 Expedition @ 6000m. Thankyanow!

Yup, keep the replies coming the more the better!

I find it interesting that there is only one Redline user so far.

Wifes 1990 4Runner 160k gets name brand dino (what's on sale that week ,right now has the free Valvoline Max Life) every 3k.

My 02 Tacoma gets Castrol Syntec Blend every 3-3.5k. (just switched back from M1)

Therion, I just switched my 95 Club Wagon with 100K miles and the same engine to Am 5W30. Initial observation after just 600 miles with that oil is that there seems to be less valve train noise when running cold. Time will tell if it proves better over the long run, but I like it so far. I want to work this vehicle up to a 1 yr/10K OCI.

On my Ford Escape I use Mobil 1 0W20 with a 5K OCI these days.

Add mine in there

'02 dodge ram 1500 4.7l 5w-30 Valvoline Durablend in winter 10w-30 Valvoline Durablend winter. All at 3k chagnes due to nasty short driving habits. Napa gold 1085 filter.

'03 Hyundai Sonata LX v6 5w-30 Valv Durablend winter and 10w-30 Durablend summer. Napa Gold 1334 filter chagned at 3k for same reasons.

I forgot to mention that I use a K&N oil filter on the Jeep, Wal-Mart filter on the truck and STP's on the two bikes.

'88 Jeep Cherokee - 4.0l - 3500 mi OCI on Rotella T syn 5w40, Purolator Pure One filter. 57,000 total miles (yes, that is correct
smile.gif
)

Will be extending OCI once I can verify the oil is working and oil filters will switch to Wix as I used my last stockpiled Pure One and I get the Wix for less. I use the Rotella T syn 5w40 as I need the cold start number, 40 weights have shown well in the Jeep, and the price is decent.

'99 Ford F150 - 4.6l V8 - 6000 mi OCI on Havoline 5w20, using Wix oil filters. 99,000 total miles.

I use Havoline as its shown well (like Chevron and more availible here) and so far the 5w20 is performing well. Wix is the best built filter at a reasonable price I can find that is NOT bought at Wal-mart, otherwise I'd use the motorcraft.

Just to throw a curveball, I may try using the Rotella T syn 5w40 in the F150 for a year to compare numbers...

626 GT - BP Visco 5000 5W40, PureONE, RX maint dose, 7kkms moving to Pennzoil Performax 100 5W50 same OCI.
Sube Outback - Castrol Formula R 5W30 during RX rinse phase, Sube OEM filter, 6kkms, moving to Visco 5000 5W40 w/RX maint dose same oci.

Ok i will try. Is it ok to Mix series 3000 with series 2000?

Jeeez, AMKEER! I started on page 2 & read your post and thought "How many cars and trucks does that guy have?"
shocked.gif

THEN I read page 1! Duh!

Say, my brother has lived in St. Pete for twenty+ years, on a brick street, no less. I get down there almost every year now...

Ever been to Harvey's?

So far, kinda looks like the profile is:

1. Standard type oil filters

2. Synthetic X/30 changed at 5 to 6K

Not many extended intervals, hi-efficiency spin on filters.

I have two vehicles which get the exact same regimen - a 1997 Mazda B2300 and a 2000 Honda Civic LX.

Both get Chevron Supreme 10W-30 and Purolator PremiumPlus filters every 3,750 miles. (I'd switch out at 6 months were that mileage not reached, but both cars cover that distance in MUCH less time than that.)

That's pretty much what I was doing before I found this board, except for
  • Switched to very-inexpensive & widely available Chevron after finding out how good it is, and
  • Switched the Civic over to 10W-30 from 5W-30 after reading about the increased shear stability here.

Norm,

Been to Harveys a couple of times, neat place! Another place to go when you come here is El Cap, its across the street. Ringside Cafe is also unique.
