i had a 1986 dodge van that had 255000 on it when the timing belt broke and quit changing the oil at about 100k just added when needed. although i have 2 turbo powered cars that i do change the oil to soon, about 3000 miles at most. i use rotella 5-40 syn

I'm currently on my longest OCI ever. I'm at over 7000 now and by the time I change it this weekend it'll be right at 8000.

Its Pennzoil HM atm, but every fill is different. Oh and I have added at least 2 quarts so far. The book calls for 6000 changes and was what I've been doing until I recently started burning more than the usual quart every 3000. I drive 1500 miles a week. Some weeks I add a quart, other weeks I add a pint. Its not consistant anymore.

Yes, I wanted to put this on the Allpar site as I am the orriginal owner and can provide docs to prove the insane amount of miles on this van.

Just use the "Quote" button at the bottom of the post and their text will show up in your post.

Look forward to seeing it on Allpar!

The vehicle now has 416,000 miles on it and it's still running just fine. Original tranny too! Yup, 416K! Probably a world record for a Chrysler tranny.

I almost want to call bull**** on the orig Chrysler tranny going 416K, but I will refrain since I have respect for BITOGers. But I guess anything is possible. BTW, with your luck, you should be at the casino NOW.

MY longest OCI---has to be an estimate, but our 1964 Dodge PU with a 318 never had it's oil changed from the mid 70s to early 80s. Granted it leaked/used a quart every 500 miles and we just topped it off. I'm estimating 40,000 miles at the least

I went 9300 miles from Oct 09 to around April 10 in my 97 Camry using M1 EP and a M1EP filter. Since then I've realized that probably isn't such a good idea given the sludge problem so I'm going to start doing 6k ocis using M1 HM.

My 08 volvo s60 routinely gets 7500 ocis using M10W49; uoa's suggest that's fine in that car. My wife's 07 Camry is getting ready to go out of warrantly so I'll start doing 7500 ocis in it using Toyota 0W20.

Hi JDD,

I really can't believe it myself. When I bought the van in 1999 I was very skeptical. I expected the van to last, at best, maybe 100K. I purchased the extended 100K warranty because I had heard so many bad things about the trannies on these vans but I have to say, I am totally amazed at how long this van has lasted. It just keeps going.

At 100K I said "It can't last much longer" and I said that again at 200K and again at 300K and well, I just don't believe it myself. If you know any BITOG guys in the Mpls area, send them over and they can have a look. I'm hoping when it finally goes out, Chrysler will give me a new van. I don't go to casinos because I lost all my money in the stock market...another reason to keep this one going all the way to 500K.

My longest change thus far is 3,200 miles(I know, it is a world-record!). I just LOVE changing my oil, even though I use a synthetic!

I'm sure the 30k fluid changes you've been doing didn't hurt one bit. I've been doing the same for the last 80k.

After I found BITOG at about 175K I added a Magnefine inline filter and a Trasko as a bypass between the tranny and the trans cooler which means lots of extra hoses down there now, but I'm going to guess that haveing these two extra filters for the trans has made a big difference.

Oh, I probably should have mentioned this at the beginning, this van sees a ton of highway miles and some suburban driving.

This applies to all auto transmissions.

I routinely used 10k OCI's on my 1990 Grand Prix using Mobil-1, and a Mobil-1 filter. The only additive used was Lally's Antiwear-1.

I think I may have had an 11k interval with the current GP somewhere along the way too.
