What is a good walk behind lawn mower brand?

Some Husqvarna mowers have Honda engines.

Kohler would be my second choice.

How many $169.00 Honda powered mowers are out there? Here goes the answer, none. Why not just say Ferrari or Caterpillar? LOL

I can only recommend a Honda. I have an HRM215 model--composite deck. I purchased it new at beginning of season in 1995 for my large yard, .4 acres of grass. Never once, not once (except for a broken pull cord) has it failed me in 20 seasons. I put Sta-bil in it every fall, it starts every Spring. In fact, it has never failed to start.

I have an update if anyone is interested..I have cut my grass twice now with the new Murray mower and it has done a fine job. It is very lightweight which helps a lot on the hill in my back yard. I did have some trouble the first time I used it, it seemed to go a lot slower in thicker grass. I have mostly Bahia grass and it can get thick in spots if we get enough rain.

I cut the grass again today without the mulching cover attachment and the mower did much better, powered right through the thicker grass with no problem at all. I just had to rake up a few clippings afterward, which was no big deal. I can say this new Murray mower works fine and was well worth the price I paid for it.

Honda HRX. Best I've ever owned, in all categories: reliability
, power, cut, ergonomics, pride of ownership.

Glad that you found a suitable replacement for your budget.

Get an OLD used Snapper Commercial with the white handle bars. Search Craigs list till you find one. It will be the last and best mower you will ever score. Don't worry about HP ratings and other useless noise. Those old 3.5HP Briggs cut just like the new 8.75 torque series do.

Not even freaking close. The 3.5 Briggs has about half the power of the new professional series engines (775 to 875 torque)

I know, I own both engines. The new engine is mounted on a late model Snapper Ninja and the old Briggs is mounted on a 1983 Snapper.

The older Snapper sure are durable, but they are not powerhouses.
