What happened to Fram oil filters?

They used to be tops, now at least the orange ones seem to be junk
You mean the Ultra used to be tops? Yes, BITOG loved the Ultras until they got "cheapened" to a dual layer synthetic-cellulose filter without metal reinforcement.

OCOD has always been OCOD. Hated by people that deemed cardboard endcaps to be inferior to metal endcaps.

The end caps are not cardboard.

Gosh, I just bought a few OCODs for my Toyota and Honda. Fortunately I still have a Supertech and Hengst in line ahead of them, respectively. Else I may be in for some inferior filtering and the cars would go to the boneyard a few 100k miles early... :ROFLMAO:

We have investigated our end caps and found we did nothing wrong.

I honestly have no problem with Fram's end caps. There definition is "engineered Fiber" - so likely cellulose treated with something. I still prefer metal myself.

Some filters have no end caps at all. Just depends on the manufacturer. I’m sure the fiber end caps do the job well.
